Huawei CloudEngine S5731-L series 2.5G Ethernet all-optical remote modules are based on Huawei's unique "asteroid" minimalist architecture, which simplifies the three-layer traditional architecture of access + aggregation + core into a two-layer minimalist architecture of access + core, greatly reducing the complexity of network deployment and management. Based on the minimalist architecture access switch, it "fissions" into a central switch + remote module. The remote module can be used as a port expansion module for the central switch to achieve flexible expansion of the port capacity of the central switch, truly making one device a network. In addition, the remote module is connected to the central switch through an optical cable or a hybrid optical cable, which is free of planning, configuration, management, and plug-and-play. When the device is expanded or a device fails, it can be directly replaced with a new device, which simplifies the planning and deployment of the network and daily operation and maintenance management.

In terms of performance, Huawei CloudEngine S5731-L series 2.5G Ethernet all-optical remote modules provide uplink 2.5G data access capabilities and optionally support innovative optoelectronic PoE power supply. The central switch of a specific model provides PoE power supply for the remote module up to 1200 meters , providing full line-speed forwarding capabilities for the remote module. Therefore, all ports of Huawei CloudEngine S5731-L series 2.5G Ethernet all-optical remote modules can achieve non-blocking data packet forwarding, providing users with an extremely fast access experience and meeting high-bandwidth business requirements such as high-definition video conferencing, online video, and large file downloads.

In terms of energy consumption, all models of Huawei CloudEngine S5731-L series 2.5G Ethernet all-optical remote modules use energy-saving chips and fanless design to achieve ultra-low power consumption. The average maximum power consumption of a single port is less than 1W, which can save 30% compared with traditional switches.
