[June 10, Beijing] The 2021 Huawei HMS Global Application Innovation Competition (Apps UP) was officially launched. With the theme of "HMS Innovate For All", this competition encourages global developers to integrate Huawei HMS Core open capabilities to develop innovative applications, create a full-scenario digital innovation experience, and bring a full-scenario smart experience to global consumers.

This competition continues the high-prize reward mechanism. Huawei's Star Program has set up a special incentive bonus of US$1 million, and there are also Huawei App Market promotion support resources, Huawei Cloud resources, HMS Core payment capability exclusive incentives and other winning rewards. Five major competition areas around the world, a million-dollar prize, and professional jury providing full support

The 2021 Huawei HMS Global App Innovation Competition will be launched simultaneously in five major competition regions: China, Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa. It will have four stages: registration and work submission, preliminaries, public review, and regional finals. The registration and work submission stage will officially start at 0:00 on June 10. Developers will integrate HMS Core open capabilities into innovative applications and submit them on the official website of the competition.

The competition will bring together technical experts, senior investment institution executives, Internet company CEOs and founders, senior technology media professionals, and representatives of non-profit organizations to form a professional jury. While reviewing the participating applications, it will also provide all-round advice and support to the contestants in development, testing, promotion, monetization and other aspects.

In terms of award settings, taking the Chinese competition area as an example, there are 5 Best Application Awards, 3 Best Game Awards, 3 Most Social Value Awards, 2 Best HMS Core Innovation Awards, 1 Full-Scene Innovation Award, 5 Starlight Creativity Awards, and 1 Women in Technology Award. The maximum prize money for each of the above awards can be up to US$15,000.

It is worth mentioning that the Best HMS Core Innovation Award, the All-Scenario Innovation Award, and the Women in Technology Award are three new awards. At the conference, Liu Dongfang shared the remarkable achievements of the HMS ecosystem development: as of the end of May 2021, the number of Huawei registered developers has exceeded 4 million, and the number of applications integrated with HMS Core has reached 134,000 worldwide, both of which have doubled year-on-year. At present, Huawei's HMS ecosystem has become the world's third largest mobile application ecosystem.

HMS Core has opened up more than 60 capabilities to developers and provides five major engine services: maps, search, payment, browsing, and advertising, which can help applications gain more users, higher activity, and more efficient business success.
