The F5G era brings trillion-dollar industry space

At the beginning of 2020, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) established the F5G working group, which defined the fifth-generation fixed network technology represented by 10GPON, Wi-Fi 6, 200G/400G, and next-generation OTN, and announced its vision of "optical connection of everything". F5G will provide high-quality technical support for services such as Gigabit WiFi, cloud VR, AR, 8K video, enterprise parks, and quality private lines. At the same time, F5G will complement 5G technology to jointly build full-connection coverage for fixed and mobile scenarios. F5G+5G provides connectivity and transportation capacity, helps the computing power and intelligence development of the intelligent world, and releases new momentum for the digital economy.

Because of the important infrastructure attributes of F5G, in April this year, the National Development and Reform Commission also clearly included F5G in the core content of the new infrastructure for the first time: accelerating the deployment of 5G networks and promoting the optimization and upgrading of fiber-optic broadband networks. The resulting F5G all-optical infrastructure investment is expected to exceed one trillion yuan, including all-optical data centers, all-optical homes, all-optical parks, all-optical industrial interconnection, etc., and the industry has a broad "money" prospect.

F5G creates the ultimate deterministic experience and opens up new blue ocean applications

Wang Jinhui emphasized, "The era of experience economy has arrived, and customer satisfaction is the key. According to a survey by PwC, customers are willing to pay a premium of 16%+ for a good experience, and 32% of users will leave a brand they once loved because of just one bad experience." The number of broadband users in China has exceeded 460 million, and the number of mobile users has exceeded 1.3 billion. The era of user quantity and traffic dividends has ended, and we have entered the era of experience dividends. User experience is an effective way to reduce user churn/increase ARPU value, and boutique networks are the moat of mobile business revenue.

High-quality services need to be guaranteed by a deterministic network, and optical fiber is the transmission medium with the highest determinism. Its life cycle can be as long as 30 years, and its transmission bandwidth can reach hundreds of terabits. Physical hard slicing technology based on OTN and WDM can achieve the shortest transmission path and the lowest network latency. F5G is based on optical fiber media, and has made further improvements and extensions in user experience and application scenarios. According to the definition of ETSI, the vision of F5G is "optical connection of everything", and it will focus on three technical directions: 1) Ultra-large bandwidth covering gigabit homes, 10,000-gigabit buildings, and T-level campuses; 2) All-fiber connection to achieve fiber to rooms, desktops, and machines; 3) Deterministic experience guarantees microsecond latency, zero packet loss, 5 9s high reliability, and more.

Based on the "Smart Wojia" gigabit broadband, it is equipped with the intelligent acceleration solution launched by VIPKID and Huawei, which reduces the delay of ultra-high-definition online classes by more than 50%, allowing a 25-minute class to be free of lag.

l F5G+ Mine: Mine safety is closely related to people's life safety, so it is necessary to avoid using electrical equipment in mines as much as possible to avoid gas explosions caused by sparks, etc. The industrial optical network solution is adopted, and passive optical devices replace active aggregation switches, simplifying the network architecture; reducing the use of active equipment, while reducing the number of explosion-proof boxes by 40%, improving the safety of mines.
