[Guangzhou, China, August 5, 2020] Huawei's "F5G Era Enterprise Optical Network Flagship Product Launch Conference" was successfully held in Guangzhou. The conference was themed "Embrace F5G, Accelerate New Infrastructure" and discussed how to accelerate the digital transformation of various industries through all-optical networks. At this conference, China Southern Power Grid announced that it would deepen its innovative cooperation with Huawei and jointly release the "Smart Grid Next Generation Bearing Technology Liquid OTN White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper"), which standardized the new standards for power production network communications to adapt to the development needs of the intelligent era.

In the F5G era, Liquid OTN is the next-generation optical bearer technology. It inherits the high security features of traditional SDH hard pipes while being innovative for the future. It provides better low-latency performance through protocol simplification and reduces equipment latency by 30%. It uses innovative fusion technology to create a minimalist network architecture, saving 30% of the TCO of the entire network.

As an important national basic industry, smart grid also combines tradition and innovation. Safety is the highest priority requirement in any era. As a relay protection service that requires real-time control, it requires 99.999% reliability and strict latency requirements of less than 5ms. With the development of smart grids, intelligent perception of equipment and cloud-based applications have triggered an exponential growth in grid data. The device interface rate ranges from 4Mbps to 100Mbps. It is estimated that by 2025, the daily increase in data collected by the entire network will exceed 100TB. At the same time, a large number of centralized and distributed new energy power generation projects are connected to the grid, the network layers are increasing simultaneously, and network operation and maintenance management is becoming increasingly complex.
