Breaking news! Huawei announced that it will launch a full set of 5.5G network equipment for commercial use in 2024

On June 29, Yang Chaobin, Huawei's director and president of ICT products and solutions, announced at the 5G Advanced Forum at the 2023 MWC Shanghai that Huawei will launch a full set of 5.5G network equipment for commercial use in 2024. This also marks that the ICT industry is about to enter the 5.5G era.

After four years of rapid development, 5G construction has achieved fruitful results. At present, there are more than 260 5G commercial networks, more than 1.2 billion 5G users, and 115 million F5G gigabit users in the world. At the same time, new business forms and content are also continuously evolving and upgrading. Breakthroughs in technologies such as naked-eye 3D have brought personal immersive experience to a new level. These new businesses have also put forward higher requirements for the capabilities of 5G networks. As the only way to upgrade and evolve 5G networks, the arrival of the 5.5G network era has formed a consensus in the industry.

The 5.5G era advocated by Huawei is an end-to-end solution that includes 5.5G, F5.5G, Net5.5G and other comprehensive evolution and upgrades. On the one hand, the 5.5G era can protect operators' 5G investments; on the other hand, it will bring a 10-fold improvement in network performance. This not only achieves a peak capacity of 10 Gigabits for downlink and 1 Gigabits for uplink to meet a variety of business needs, but also introduces new technologies such as passive IoT to open up new space for hundreds of billions of IoT and create a new industry vision.

Yang Chaobin said: "The technology and commercial verification for the 5.5G era are ready, the standard rhythm is clear, and the 5.5G era is ready to go. In 2024, Huawei will launch a full set of commercial 5.5G network equipment to prepare for the commercial deployment of 5.5G! Huawei looks forward to working with the industry to jointly embark on a new journey in the 5.5G era!"

As an industry advocate of end-to-end 5.5G solutions, Huawei has joined the entire industry in actively exploring the development and verification of various key technical capabilities of 5.5G. Major verification progress has been made in key wireless 5.5G technologies, including ultra-large-scale antenna array technology that realizes 10G downlink, flexible spectrum access technology that realizes 1G uplink, and passive IoT technology that opens up hundreds of billions of IoT. As a representative of the key technology of the F5.5G ultra-wideband network era and enabling 10G experience, 50G PON will be widely used in homes, campuses, and production fields in the future. Huawei has completed technical verification and application pilots with more than 30 operators around the world. In addition to the key technology development of 5.5G in the fields of wireless and optical access, the 5.5G core network continues to enhance and open capabilities through intelligent native technology, and delivers AI capabilities to the connection end through the network, so that the network can better serve thousands of industries. Net5.5G provides the key capabilities of 10G access, ultra-wide bearer, and AI network microsecond latency, creating a new generation of industry digital network foundation, meeting the high-quality network access needs of various industries and promoting digital transformation.

Currently, 6G is still in the early stages of vision and demand formation and key technology research. 5.5G is the only way for 5G networks to upgrade and evolve. This has become a consensus in the industry and is a deterministic industry development trend. The tenfold increase in network capacity brought by the 5.5G era will enable thousands of industries to unleash more powerful digital productivity.
