Aruba expands SD-WAN services to Alibaba Cloud

Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, announced today that Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN has now been extended to Alibaba Cloud, a leading global public cloud service provider that provides cloud-based managed services for cloud workloads to enterprise customers. The Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN edge platform has passed the Alibaba Cloud deployment certification test. Now, enterprise users can download the Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN virtual instance through the Aruba Support portal and upload it to the enterprise Alibaba Cloud account to extend Aruba SD-WAN to the Alibaba Cloud environment.

As enterprises accelerate their transformation to a "cloud first" strategy, global IT teams must deal with the complexity of interconnecting local and cloud resources to ensure that users can access all workloads no matter where they are. Through integration with Alibaba Cloud, Aruba and its industry-leading Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN edge platform provide dynamic and secure connections from edge to edge, edge to cloud, and cloud to cloud, helping enterprises optimize the performance of traditional or cloud-hosted applications and networks, regardless of their network environment or location.

Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN’s game-changing capabilities are now extended to workloads and applications hosted on Alibaba Cloud, including:

Path conditioning: Overcomes the adverse effects of packet loss and packet disorder that may occur in broadband Internet, MPLS, and 5G/LTE connections, thereby improving application performance and providing a smooth user experience like a dedicated line on the public Internet.

First-packet iQ™ Application Classification: Identifies over 10,000 applications on the first packet, allowing trusted SaaS and Web traffic to be delivered directly to the Internet while routing unknown or suspicious traffic to the data center firewall or IDS/IPS based on business intent.

Tunnel bonding: Direct applications over bonded links or tunnels to form a single logical overlay connection that works across multiple broadband, MPLS links, or any combination of links, optimizing real-time traffic performance.

Aruba Boost WAN Optimization: Provides enterprises with a single, unified SD-WAN edge platform that enhances the performance of latency-sensitive applications and minimizes duplicate data transmission across the WAN.

Aruba has always maintained a good cooperative relationship with Alibaba Cloud. At the "Observe the Clouds and Know the Navigation" Alibaba Cloud International Overseas Summit held in August this year, Aruba won the Excellence in Technology Award, which is an honorary award given by Alibaba Cloud to recognize Alibaba Cloud's international ecological technology partners.

“This collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and Aruba will allow Alibaba Cloud customers to benefit from Aruba’s leading EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN edge platform through one of the world’s largest public cloud platforms,” said Raymond Xiao, Head of International Industry Solutions and Architecture.

“Aruba is committed to helping customers transform to a cloud-first WAN, and we are enabling enterprises to access the exceptional capabilities provided by Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN across Alibaba Cloud’s global network, regardless of where they are located,” said Fraser Street, Global Technology Alliance Leader for Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN.

Xie Jianguo, General Manager of Aruba China, said: "Aruba EdgeConnect Enterprise SD-WAN is tailored for today's edge-to-cloud enterprises. The cooperation with Alibaba Cloud will help expand the global application of Aruba's leading edge-to-cloud network solutions and help enterprises connect the edge and the cloud seamlessly and securely. In the future, Aruba will continue to provide innovative solutions to help customers achieve new business results through edge-to-cloud transformation."

Today, all enterprises want to simplify cloud operations and provide the highest application performance support for applications deployed in any location and any cloud environment, thereby providing excellent application quality of experience (QoE). Aruba and Alibaba Cloud will work together to build a cost-effective, reliable and easy-to-operate network to connect branch offices, data centers and cloud workloads around the world.
