5G is not yet popular, but 6G patents are already the world's first, and the 6G war has already begun

5G has been promoted for a long time, but it has not been fully popularized so far. What is surprising is that Huawei has already entered the 6G field. Ren Zhengfei once publicly stated: 6G must not be controlled by others?

China ranks first in the world in 6G patents

Recently, Japanese media announced the results of a survey conducted by relevant institutions in the country. According to the 6G core technology market share list, China's 6G technology patents accounted for 40.3%.

The United States holds 35.2% of 6G technology patents, while my country ranks first in the world with a 5.1% advantage. In addition, according to the Nikkei Asian Review, my country is expected to put 6G networks into commercial use as early as 2030.

According to Japanese statistics, China accounts for more than 40% of the global 6G patent applications, while the United States, which ranks second, accounts for only about 35%. Japan ranks third with a share of about 10%. This shows that China's advantages in the 6G field are not small compared to other countries.

So far, most of the 6G patents applied by my country are about infrastructure such as mobile base stations. Because in the 6G era, the 6G network will be a fully connected world integrating ground wireless and satellite communications. By integrating satellite communications into 6G mobile communications, global seamless coverage can be achieved, and network signals can reach any remote village. Therefore, in the future, the requirements for indicators such as the wireless width of ground base stations will become higher and higher, so China will first study 6G ground mobile base stations in order to lay a solid foundation.

In this process, the "national team" such as State Grid and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation has made great contributions to the application of 6G technology patents. Of course, the fact that my country's 6G technology patents have been ranked first in the world for a long time is also due to private Chinese technology giants including Huawei and ZTE.

For example, Huawei started research and development of 6G communication technology as early as 2017, and established R&D centers in Canada and France respectively; ZTE also quickly launched technical exploration in aspects such as 6G network structure.

At the same time, 5G and 6G are actually complementary to each other. Without the rapid development of 5G, it will naturally be difficult to promote 6G. Compared with the difficult promotion of 5G abroad, the progress in China is very rapid. You should know that the number of 5G base stations in China has exceeded 1.3 million. Whether it is the islands and reefs in the South China Sea or the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, 5G signals have almost achieved full coverage, and have greatly promoted the development of domestic Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. There are even driverless taxis based on 5G technology in China. These technological achievements are all envied by foreign countries.

Therefore, the United States and Japan announced an alliance, and South Korea, Germany and other countries have successively formulated 6G research and development plans. This war without gunpowder has already quietly started. The US telecommunications industry has formed the Next G Alliance, whose strategic mission is to study and establish the technical development route of 6G and establish the technological advantage of the United States in the 6G era. Currently, more than 30 global communication technology giants such as Intel, Qualcomm, Apple, Samsung, and Nokia have participated.

Although 6G is only in its early stages, it has attracted the attention of many countries. Therefore, my country needs to work harder in exploring 6G technology. Only in this way can we continue to maintain our leading position in patent technology. It is foreseeable that the competition among countries in the 6G field will become more intense, and domestic technology companies will face many challenges. However, I believe that Chinese technology companies will continue the glory of the 5G era and continue to lead 6G.

Remember that at the 3GPP RAN meeting held in Spain in 2019, Huawei led Chinese companies such as ZTE, Datang, and OPPO to win more than half of the 23 standards for 5G technology, and they were all the most valuable standard patents in the industry.

This incident touched the sore spot of the United States, which claims to be a technological power. What followed was a hunt down of ZTE and Huawei, and sanctions on Chinese companies on all kinds of trumped-up charges.

Due to the blockade by the United States, Huawei has encountered an unprecedented crisis. It lacks chips and is unable to produce 5G core equipment. Its mobile phone sales have also dropped sharply.

In the face of US sanctions, Huawei made a very bold decision, which is to disclose its 5G patent technology and share it with the world. On the surface, Huawei seems to be making a desperate move, but in fact, the company is already confident in the new generation of communication technology. This move caught the United States off guard and made the world further realize that China's development of communication technology is really for the benefit of all mankind, unlike the United States, which intends to use technology patents to reap wealth.
