Current status of 5G development: In addition to the "fast Internet speed" in the eyes of ordinary people, what other development prospects are there?

When it comes to 5G, people don’t know much about it. Many people only know that 5G has faster network speeds, nearly twice as fast as 4G. However, 5G, a global breakthrough, has more uses than just “fast network speed”.

On June 6, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G licenses to the three major operators and the Radio and Television Bureau, which also means that 5G will continue to develop in many aspects and in depth in China. However, the issuance of the licenses this time was 6 months earlier than previously expected.

As for the early issuance of licenses, industry insiders speculate that it is largely related to communications companies such as Huawei and ZTE. Huawei was previously included in the entity list by the United States, and the surveillance, security and other issues they encountered during their development are all factors that accelerated the implementation of 5G licenses.

Judging from the current 5G industry chain, no country in the world is fully prepared, but the licenses have been issued, which also means that the 5G industry has entered a new stage of development. As for whether 5G can become the material basis of the social industrial structure like 4G in the future, we cannot know the result for the time being.

Most people only know about 5G in terms of "fast internet speed". In fact, 5G covers a wide range of areas. In the field of education, it can be used in smart classrooms. In the medical field, it can use 5G+remote ultrasound examinations, intensive care and other new application scenarios.

The reason why 5G has attracted global attention is that its application prospects are unlimited. Both our known businesses and our unknown businesses may involve the application of 5G technology.

Of course, if we want to realize the ultimate application of 5G technology, we must first lay a solid foundation in infrastructure. It has been two years since my country issued 5G licenses. As expected, my country has built the world's largest 5G SA network, with 5G infrastructure and the number of jointly built and shared base stations reaching 961,000 and 400,000 respectively.

In addition to achieving outstanding results domestically, my country's 5G technology and brand have become "famous overseas" and have become a new "Chinese business card."

As of May this year, there are 133 countries/regions and 443 operators investing in the 5G industry. More than 70% of the world's 5G base stations are built by China.

As 5G commercialization is gradually launched, many new applications will appear in the future, but which ones will stand out in the end? Let's take a look at what 5G applications there are!

5G applications for ordinary consumers: 5G video

5G also plays an important role in the lives of ordinary consumers, such as 5G videos. In the 4G era, short videos have been very popular among users. In the 5G era, with better network conditions, 5G videos will be more anticipated.

5G high bandwidth supports real-time refresh of high-definition video. Simply put, as long as the 5G traffic charges are appropriate, 5G in the future can be widely used in film and television, virtual VR, AR and other applications. For example, when watching a game, if you use 5G video, you may have multiple perspectives, directly hear the communication between the referee and the staff, and so on.

5G applications for ordinary consumers - 5G games

The large bandwidth and low latency of 5G networks surpass those of 4G networks, which is also believed to subvert the traditional gaming industry. If 5G is applied to the gaming industry in the future, a large number of cloud games will appear.

The so-called cloud gaming means that players no longer need to buy expensive high-performance gaming equipment, but can play the game on the cloud platform and experience it directly. Large-scale heavy games, mobile games, PC games, console games, etc. may all be cloud-based.

5G Applications for Industrial Internet - Smart Manufacturing

In addition to 5G applications for ordinary consumers, 5G technology will also be used in the field of industrial Internet. Take the manufacturing industry as an example. In order to better meet the needs of consumers, the manufacturing industry needs to have more precise control over the production process.

In recent years, smart manufacturing has begun to try to integrate 5G, cloud computing and AI technologies to meet consumers' demand for flexible manufacturing through more flexible and efficient production systems.

At the beginning of this year, due to the severe epidemic situation, the Inspur server smart factory in Jinan successfully resumed work in just one night because it adopted new technologies such as the Internet of Things and smart terminals. If it were a traditional manufacturing factory, you can imagine how difficult it would be to resume work.

unmanned

The concept of autonomous driving has been proposed for a long time, but it has not been put into action yet. In addition to the safety risks of autonomous driving, the immaturity of the technology is also a major concern.

The principle of unmanned driving is to control the vehicle through the intelligent driving of the information system. Unmanned driving has been applied in the industrial field and specific parks, but it is not popular in daily life.

As the concept of 5G becomes more and more popular, the cooperation between 5G and driverless driving is getting closer and closer. Previously, a company had applied 5G to driverless driving, which was also the first largest-loaded highway driverless vehicle in the country.

Regarding unmanned driving technology, many industry experts believe that unmanned driving within a specific area can also be understood as intelligent logistics. Currently, the application cases in this area are relatively mature. If assisted by 5G technology, the application will become more mature in the future.

5G technology is a new hot spot in the current global competition. All countries have deeply realized the importance of 5G technology, especially in international competition, having advanced 5G technology will be very advantageous. At present, all countries are issuing 5G-related strategies to support the development of their own 5G technology.

Faced with the popularity of 5G technology, China has not slowed down. At the same time, China's 5G technology has been recognized by many countries, including the construction of base stations, the achievement of 5G strategic cooperation, etc. China's 5G technology has become another new business card for the world.
