Towards the next generation of Internet, SoundNet releases full-link acceleration FPA to increase QoS protection for the Internet

On August 19, Agora held an online product launch conference and officially released the "Full-Path Accelerator FPA". Full-Path Accelerator FPA is based on Agora's software-defined real-time network SD-RTN™. Through multi-point end-to-end transmission optimization covering the world, it comprehensively improves the transmission performance and reliability of the entire network, including the last mile, and through efficient collaborative optimization of "cloud" and "end", it adds network QoS guarantee for enterprise applications.

Sun Yurun, partner and technology VP of Agora, said at the press conference, "As the pioneer and leader of real-time interactive cloud services, Agora has provided high-quality real-time interactive cloud services to more than 337,000 applications worldwide. This is due to the excellent network performance of Agora's software-defined real-time network SD-RTN™. When serving customers, we found that not only real-time audio and video services, but also online games, financial payments, cross-border e-commerce and many other fields also require reliable latency and quality. In response to this, Agora decided to open the capabilities of SD-RTN™ to all developers and enterprises, and provide network transmission solutions with QoS guarantees for more business applications. This is also the new product 'Full Link Acceleration FPA' that we are going to release today."

The Internet only guarantees connectivity but not network speed and quality

In today's life, we often encounter some bad experiences due to network problems. For example, slow file transfers and video conferences affect work efficiency; mobile payments often fail when buying groceries; and the connection is suddenly disconnected at the critical moment of playing games. These bad experiences are often caused by network quality issues. No matter how excellent the application experience and wonderful content are, they cannot withstand the damage to the user experience caused by the network.

The core reason behind these network problems is that although the Internet provides an open and free connection, any user and any data can enjoy its transmission channel, it only provides the best effort service and does not guarantee the speed and quality of network transmission. At the same time, the uneven level of last mile network capabilities is also one of the main factors affecting network transmission quality. On the one hand, the performance of Wi-Fi devices varies, and problems such as poor Wi-Fi signals, channel competition, and channel switching are common; on the other hand, 3G and 4G networks have limited signal coverage and large fluctuations in transmission quality in different environments, such as subways, tunnels, and stations with peak traffic. Therefore, when enterprise applications are interconnected across countries, regions, and operators, or when the entire network is congested during peak usage, the local access network quality is poor, and the signal of mobile terminals is unstable, the poor network will cause delays, jitters, packet loss, and even disconnection and inability to connect, which seriously reduces our user experience.

The existing solutions to the problem of network transmission quality are: one is the operator dedicated line service, and the other is global acceleration GA. These two solutions are based on dedicated lines to build high-quality dedicated channels. Although they guarantee the transmission quality within the channel, including stable transmission delay, determined bandwidth, etc., they face problems such as the inability to guarantee the last mile transmission quality, difficulty in covering remote countries and regions, and high resource costs and operation and maintenance costs for building dedicated channels. Another solution is CDN dynamic acceleration, which builds virtual channels based on public network scheduling, uses a large number of edge nodes, and provides a relatively available path through scheduling algorithms, with wide user coverage. However, in addition to being unable to guarantee the last mile transmission quality, there is also the problem that backbone transmission cannot guarantee quality, does not provide stable transmission delay and determined bandwidth.

In summary, the end-to-end network quality issue has not yet been resolved.

Full-link acceleration FPA provides network QoS guarantee and improves end-user access performance by 100%

Agora has served more than 337,000 applications worldwide and supported more than 1 trillion minutes of real-time audio and video, fully verifying that SD-RTN™ has high-speed, stable and reliable global network capabilities. On this basis, Agora officially launched the full-path acceleration FPA (Full-Path Accelerator), which adds QoS to the Internet and provides global end-to-end network transmission services with QoS guarantees for corporate business applications.

In terms of backbone network transmission, full-link acceleration FPA is based on SD-RTN™. Through network intelligence, route planning and scheduling, multi-path redundancy, and other methods, combined with extensive deployment of key nodes, it effectively solves the problem of reduced transmission quality caused by network congestion, operator failures, etc.

In terms of the last mile transmission for end users, full-link acceleration FPA implements weak network countermeasures, intelligent access and other capabilities through the terminal SDK, greatly improving the quality of the Last Mile.

Through the efficient collaborative optimization of "cloud" and "end", the originally unpredictable Internet has become predictable, manageable, and schedulable. Based on this capability, full-link acceleration FPA can provide high-level QoS guarantees for users in more than 200 countries and regions around the world.

Agora FPA has four core advantages: QoS guarantee, full-link acceleration, high availability, and global coverage:
1. QoS guarantee: The 200ms packet arrival rate of the entire network exceeds 99.9%, improving the access performance of end users by 100% on average;
2. Full-link acceleration: FPA full-link "end" + "cloud" collaborative acceleration provides better overall acceleration performance and stability.
3. High availability: Through redundant resources and the intelligent scheduling algorithm of the entire network, it does not rely on a single physical resource and eliminates unavailability problems caused by physical line failures.
4. Global coverage: It can provide users in more than 200 countries and regions around the world with stable and high-speed network services anytime, anywhere.

In terms of data security compliance, FPA supports the TLS protocol during the transmission process. The communication between the terminal and the source station is in a dedicated channel. The source station side can be completely not exposed to the Internet, ensuring the business security of the source station. Terminal access will also provide dynamic Token verification and user authentication. In addition, Agora follows internationally recognized information security and privacy protection standards and industry requirements, and has been committed to adopting international best practices to build a privacy and security management system. At present, Agora has passed ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC ISO27017, and ISO/IEC 27018 system certifications, and obtained SOC2 Type 1 and SOC2 Type 2 service attestation reports, which well demonstrates its privacy protection and security capabilities.

Who needs full-link acceleration FPA more?

Shi Zheng, head of Agora's FPA product, said at the press conference that after in-depth market research, Agora found that scenarios such as overseas applications, game acceleration, audio and video applications, and mobile finance have very high requirements for global network transmission quality. For example, overseas applications need to provide services to users in multiple regions around the world, and the network environment in Southeast Asia, India, Central Asia and other regions is very complex, which poses a great challenge to business development. Agora's full-link acceleration FPA uses SD-RTN™ to cover high-speed network channels in more than 200 countries and regions around the world. It can provide high-quality network coverage of the target countries/regions for various overseas applications, realize real-time audio and video interaction across regions and networks, and extremely fast synchronization of business data, ultimately improving network performance by more than 100% and reducing the loading time of business applications by more than 60%.

In gaming scenarios, problems that affect user experience, such as difficulty logging in, high operation latency, and disconnection during the game, frequently occur. The quality of the gaming experience determines whether players stay or leave, and their willingness to pay. Agora's full-link acceleration FPA uses SD-RTN™'s global high-speed network channels to help game operators provide full-link game acceleration services to players in all regions of the world. It can not only achieve global and regional user-side game acceleration, but also greatly improve the ability of mobile game players to fight against weak networks, and ultimately achieve a game disconnection rate reduction of more than 90%, and a delay reduction of more than 50% for 95% of players.

At the conference, Huanxin CTO Zhao Guibin also shared the business improvement brought by the full-link acceleration FPA to Huanxin based on his actual business. He said: "Huanxin is a global instant messaging cloud and customer service cloud service provider. In the process of global business expansion, it was found that the global network infrastructure was uneven and the network quality in remote areas was poor, which caused difficulties in business expansion. The existing solutions have problems such as difficult global coverage, no last-mile quality assurance, and inability to guarantee end-to-end network quality. After accessing the Agora FPA, relying on its high-speed, stable and reliable global network capabilities, Huanxin supports a peak of more than 3 million concurrent connections worldwide, and the coverage performance in remote areas has increased by 112%, the average message arrival delay has decreased by 55%, and the connection stability has increased by 10 times. Huanxin has also helped overseas apps such as Litmatch and Haya to successfully open up markets in Southeast Asia, Arabia and other regions, providing local users with rich social gameplay such as voice live broadcast, game connection, IM chat, etc.
