According to the latest report "China Internet Development Report (2021)" released by the Internet Society of China, the number of Internet users in my country has grown steadily in 2020, and Internet infrastructure has been fully covered. The construction of my country's backbone network has been initially completed, and the top-level architecture of the Internet continues to advance.

In 2020, my country's total mobile communication base stations reached 9.31 million, the digital economy market size reached 39.2 trillion yuan, the industrial Internet market size reached 916.48 billion yuan, the Internet of Things market size reached 1.7 trillion yuan, the artificial intelligence market size reached 303.1 billion yuan, and the network security market size reached 170.2 billion yuan.

In terms of Internet backbone network construction, the backbone network has developed in a flat manner, and the "rich" Internet era is accelerating; the "all-round, three-dimensional" network architecture layout has been initially formed; and the international Internet layout has achieved continuous expansion.

In terms of Internet bandwidth construction, the backbone network of basic telecommunications enterprises has been updated; the bandwidth of interconnection between China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom has increased sharply; and the international Internet entry and exit bandwidth has continued to increase significantly.

In the deployment and application of IPv6, the breadth of IPv6 deployment continues to advance, and the number of active IPv6 users continues to increase; the depth of IPv6 deployment continues to advance, and IPv6 traffic has increased significantly; more than half of the networks support IPv6, and the number of IPv6 addresses meets the needs of industry development; the network fully supports IPv6, and the performance of IPv6 within the backbone network is better than that of IPv4.

In terms of Internet exchange center construction, the International Internet Exchange Center actively explored the integrated development of new businesses, and the traffic aggregation effect was further enhanced; the National (Hangzhou) New Internet Exchange Center was put into operation, and the Qianhai and Zhongwei exchange centers were approved as pilot projects; the new Internet exchange centers were clearly integrated with new technologies and new businesses, and node deployment will be further extended to the edge of the network.

In terms of mobile Internet construction, the penetration rate of mobile Internet users continues to increase, and the growth rate of mobile Internet traffic slows down; 5G network construction is progressing steadily, and the trend of coordinated promotion by multiple entities is accelerating; the number of mobile Internet of Things users is growing rapidly, and LTE Cat1 terminals are emerging.

In terms of network data center construction, the overall scale of data centers has grown rapidly, with data service providers mainly consisting of basic telecommunications operators; the energy efficiency level of data centers has gradually improved; and data centers have explored and applied new technologies.
