China Telecom: Continue to build a comprehensive 5G private network solution integrating "network edge cloud and service"

With the continuous advancement of "new infrastructure", the industry's demand for digital transformation through 5G technology has become more urgent. Due to the obvious differences in information characteristics of different industries and the different levels of information requirements for business scenarios among industries, 5G public networks cannot well meet the needs of enterprises for high security and high stability, and the construction of 5G private networks has become a general trend.

In response to the rapidly erupting demand for 5G private networks, China Telecom believes that 5G private network service is not only a communication network, but also a comprehensive solution that integrates networks, cloud computing, edge computing, application platforms, etc.

Four major 5G private network requirements of industry customers

At present, the industry has not yet formed a unified view on the construction model and construction subject of 5G private networks, and specific analysis is needed based on specific issues. Based on its rich experience in 5G private network innovation and practice, China Telecom summarizes the needs of industry customers for 5G private networks into four points.

First, there is the need for network capability customization and adaptation. Different scenarios in different industries require the network to be flexibly customized. For example, for industries such as tourism, education, and venues that have high requirements for network stability, 5G private networks are required to provide service channel services with better quality than the public customer network; for industries such as industrial manufacturing and ports, 5G private networks are required to meet the needs of local business processing to ensure high security of business data, low latency and high stability of business processing; for industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, military, mining, and electricity that have extremely high requirements for data security and reliability, 5G private networks are required to provide the highest level of security for business and application assurance capabilities.

The second is the demand for lower latency and higher stability in digital applications. With the continuous development of technologies such as the Internet of Things and the continuous increase in data, more and more companies are turning their attention to edge computing. Edge intelligence solutions can reduce latency, improve scalability, and increase access to information, making business development more agile.

The third is the demand for industry applications to migrate to the new 5G information infrastructure. Cloud-edge collaborative solutions that fully leverage the different advantages of cloud and edge have become a rigid demand for industry customers in the process of digital transformation.

Fourth, there is a need to build new industry digital applications based on the new 5G information infrastructure. Business applications are the ultimate manifestation of enterprise digital transformation. When promoting digital transformation, industry customers not only need 5G+ cloud-edge integrated information infrastructure services, but also need a series of digital applications for the above information infrastructure.

Create five-in-one exclusive customized services

Based on the above analysis, China Telecom has proposed a converged and collaborative 5G private network solution of "network customization, edge intelligence, cloud collaboration, and X on demand", aiming to create an integrated converged customized service for customers and achieve the goal of "cloud-network integration and on-demand customization".

Among them, "network customization" means that China Telecom provides three types of network solutions, namely "slicing", "edge" and "independent", to meet the differentiated needs of industry customers for 5G network coverage, security isolation level requirements, air interface customization depth, etc.

"Edge intelligence" means that China Telecom can provide customers with edge intelligence services deployed nearby on demand, and provide enterprise information edge infrastructure that does not require data to leave the local area/park, such as edge computing power, edge AI, edge SaaS applications, etc.

In order to meet customers' needs for application cloud migration, China Telecom has proposed a "cloud collaboration" solution to dynamically provide customers with multi-cloud flexible scheduling, unified management services, such as edge cloud and public cloud collaboration, private cloud and Tianyi Cloud collaboration, and multi-supplier public cloud collaboration.

Finally, China Telecom provides customers with a wealth of industry-specific services and application libraries, supporting customers to select on demand, flexibly combine, and order in one stop, namely "X on demand".

The digital transformation of industries is sweeping the world, and all walks of life are constantly exploring their digital transformation paths. 5G private network is China Telecom's proactive response to the development trend of industry digitalization and digital industrialization. In the future, China Telecom's 5G private network will provide customers with exclusive customized services of "network-edge-cloud-application-service", fully meeting customers' digital transformation needs, thereby actively responding to the country's call to vigorously develop the digital economy and helping enterprises accelerate the pace of digital transformation and upgrading.
