Liu Duo from CAICT: There are 32,000 5G base stations used in the industrial Internet

At the 2020 China 5G+ Industrial Internet Conference held recently, Liu Duo, president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, pointed out that in recent years, my country's 5G+ industrial Internet industry has accelerated its advancement and achieved remarkable success.

It is understood that at present, there are more than 700,000 5G base stations built nationwide, and there are 32,000 5G base stations used in the industrial Internet. The network construction model based on user-side sinking is the first choice for industrial enterprises. In addition, there are more than 1,100 "5G+Industrial Internet" projects under construction. Network service providers and equipment manufacturers actively participate in the implementation of "5G+Industrial Internet" applications and explore new business cooperation models.

However, she pointed out five major challenges: first, the complex application environment needs to be adapted to; second, the demand for uplink bandwidth needs to be met; third, security and economy need to be coordinated; fourth, the industrial support system needs to be improved; and fifth, integration into the industrial system needs to be deepened.

She put forward five suggestions for the future development of 5G+Industrial Internet.

First, we must accelerate the research and development of terminal modules , strengthen the research and development of key technologies, increase collaborative research and development efforts in chips and industrial module terminals, and accelerate the improvement of industry supply capabilities.

Second, we must consolidate network infrastructure , accelerate the creation of network benchmark model projects, strengthen the exploration of business models, and provide strong network conditions to support industrial enterprises' exploration.

Third, we must accelerate integrated application innovation , promote the construction of 5G+Industrial Internet integrated application pilot zones, and serve the incubation of innovative applications in terms of standards, testing, and patents.

Fourth, we must strengthen security assurance construction and promote the systematic supply of security technologies, standards, products and solutions.

Fifth, we must form a joint force for industrial development , give full play to the role of alliances and associations, and further promote the connection between supply and demand of 5G+Industrial Internet through multi-party cooperation among government, industry, academia, research and application.
