Chinese companies account for more than 30% of global 5G standard patent declarations

CCTV News: The reporter learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that my country's 5G has already laid a foundation for commercial use, and commercial licenses will be issued in the near future, which means that my country has officially entered the first year of 5G commercial use. How will 5G affect our lives?

The 5G standard is a unified international standard jointly formulated by the global industry. As of May 2019, among the 5G standard essential patent declarations of more than 20 companies worldwide, Chinese companies accounted for more than 30%, ranking first.

Gong Daning, senior engineer at the Policy and Economic Research Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: In terms of industrial development, my country took the lead in launching 5G technology research and development trials, accelerating the development and industrialization of 5G equipment. At present, my country's 5G mid-band system equipment, terminal chips, and smartphones are in the first echelon of the global industry.

At present, the application of 5G in my country's pilot cities has been widely rolled out. In Guangzhou, the ultra-high-definition industry formed by 5G+4K has also become a new growth point for Guangzhou's economy.

Hu Zhigang, chief engineer of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province: This year, Guangzhou City plans to build more than 10,000 5G base stations to achieve full coverage of 5G signals in the main urban area, and introduce more than 1,000 big data and artificial intelligence companies. Such leading information consumption companies will create more new information consumption scenarios and products to enable the people to have more information consumption experience and sense of gain.

In Shanghai, as of now, more than 20,000 communities have opened fiber-based gigabit fixed broadband, covering tens of millions of users.

Liu Yuefeng, Director of the 5G Special Promotion Office of China Telecom Shanghai: We have completed the planning of 20,000 5G sites in Shanghai, and we plan to start the construction of 3,000 sites in 2019. By 2020, 5G coverage will be basically achieved in the entire central urban area and major towns of Shanghai.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that in the research and promotion of 5G, my country has always adhered to the concept of openness, inclusiveness, cooperation and win-win. During the technical trial stage, many foreign companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm and Intel also participated deeply. With the joint efforts of all parties, my country's 5G has already laid a commercial foundation.
