The US Department of Defense invested $600 million to militarize 5G, completely subverting the concept of war

The U.S. Department of Defense announced that it will invest $600 million in five military bases in the country to conduct experiments on the military application of 5G networks, including the application of drones, robots and biometric technology, as well as virtual reality combat training, to test the potential application and communication capabilities of 5G networks in warfare. This is also the world's largest comprehensive test of 5G dual-use.

The five military bases in the plan are Naval Base San Diego in California, Hill Air Force Base in Utah, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in Georgia, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, and Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reason for the selection is that these bases have mature fiber optic networks and wireless infrastructure, and can also be updated later, providing a controlled and favorable environment for shared spectrum experiments.

Lewis-McChord Joint Base in Washington will use AT&T 5G network services and Samsung equipment to conduct combat training that connects virtual reality and augmented reality. The San Diego Naval Base in California will use 5G networks to develop a smart transshipment and storage system that focuses on the transportation of materials between naval forces and onshore facilities to improve naval logistics efficiency, and will use drones, robots and biometric technology.

Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base in Georgia will develop smart warehouses to store and maintain military vehicles. Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada will upgrade 5G network connection applications in space and aerospace to enhance command and control capabilities, and will also use AT&T to provide 5G network resources.

Hill Air Force Base in Utah is developing a shared spectrum connection between the Air Force radar system and 5G network services, and is working with Nokia to develop a high-power antenna system, importing 5G spectrum technology developed in cooperation with Ericsson to provide more effective assistance to the US military's reconnaissance capabilities.

Detailed cooperation projects also include GE Research providing 5G network real-time object tracking systems, auxiliary facility modeling and analytical prediction, Vectrus providing industry-leading inventory management, network security technology, robotic sensing, and Deloitte providing automation technology, in addition to BAH providing artificial intelligence technology and other application resources.

The development of 5G network technology applications not only affects the industrial development of the new era, but is also the fundamental driving force of the US defense modernization plan. Through large-scale testing and advanced deployment, it can enhance military capabilities and maintain its leadership position as a military power. More experimental bases will be announced in the future.

Editor: 5G achieves the connection between devices, that is, after receiving the command, drones, robots and other intelligent weapons can obtain data from each other and then work together to complete the task. In the future, intelligent equipment will no longer be "remote control toys". They can form combat units and work together. The concept of war will undergo a fundamental change, and traditional armies and weapons will soon be eliminated. Traditional mechanized troops will not have any chance of winning in the face of information-based unmanned intelligent equipment. In fact, there is no need to compete at all. When you see that the opponent is an overwhelming number of machine warriors, your psychology will completely collapse.
