During the 2019 Global Data Infrastructure Forum, Zhou Yuefeng, Vice President of Huawei's IT Product Line and President of Intelligent Data and Storage, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Entering the Intelligent Era and Building Converged, Intelligent, and Open Data Infrastructure". He also publicly offered a reward for solving data infrastructure technical problems and set up the "Olympus Award" to reward global researchers who have made breakthrough contributions in the field of data infrastructure. At the same time, Huawei, together with industry partners, announced the establishment of the Big Data Industry Promotion Group and the Intelligent Edge Industry Promotion Group to jointly prosper the data industry ecosystem.

Data infrastructure includes data storage, data processing, data management system, data virtualization engine, etc., and has the three characteristics of integration, intelligence, and openness. At this forum, Huawei explained the three scenario-based solutions for data infrastructure based on Ascend and Kunpeng processors, as well as the automated data management system. 1. The OceanData solution for intelligent production and trading integrates database and storage deployment, and a set of architectures meets both reliability and scalability requirements, achieving multi-write and multi-active across data centers, and eliminating network and I/O bottlenecks through storage and computing collaboration and operator pushdown. 2. Intelligent data lake FusionData solution eliminates data silos caused by diverse applications and releases data value. It helps businesses make real-time analysis decisions by breaking down database, storage, and big data barriers. 3. Intelligent edge FusionCube 2.0 solution, the industry's first 5-in-1 full-stack integrated product that supports computing, storage, networking, security and AI, plug and play. 4. The full life cycle data management system DMS covers the four stages of planning, construction, maintenance and optimization of the full life cycle management of data infrastructure, improves automated management capabilities, and enables "automated driving" of data infrastructure. Facing the future, we will join hands with the academic community to tackle tough problems and climb to the "Olympus" In the intelligent era, data is the new means of production. Huawei advocates building end-to-end capabilities around data, including computing capabilities, storage capabilities, usage capabilities, and AI capabilities, to meet the growing data needs of all industries and make the value of each bit of data as large as possible and the cost per bit as optimal throughout its entire life cycle. Huawei launches the "Olympus Prize" to offer a reward for solving data infrastructure technology challenges Currently, data governance faces great challenges in terms of efficiency. Various data sources need to be manually converted and cleaned before they can be connected to the analysis system. Data analysis models require a large amount of manpower for manual classification and repeated tuning and iteration. Therefore, in the end-to-end data lifecycle process, how to achieve intelligent and automated various manual processes is a key challenge to improve data analysis efficiency. In addition, there are currently a variety of database architectures such as traditional databases, distributed databases, NoSQL, NewSQL, and different database products. Faced with traditional OLTP, OLAP scenarios, batch processing, real-time stream processing scenarios, as well as new IoT, blockchain and other scenarios, how to build an intelligent database system that can meet the business requirements and ecological interfaces of traditional data centers, and support the expansion capabilities in cloud scenarios, so that customers can meet both current production needs and future evolution and expansion needs, has become a major challenge in data processing. Building an industrial technology ecosystem, especially breakthroughs in basic technology, requires the joint participation of all parties to promote the development of the entire industry. To this end, we have set two major challenges: one is to achieve full life cycle data governance for "autonomous driving"; the other is to build data storage with the ultimate cost-effectiveness per bit. We hope that the academic community will work together to tackle basic technical issues such as cross-regional distributed operating systems, 10,000-node artificial intelligence governance, 1,000-core heterogeneous computing power, new storage media, and brain-like intelligent data reduction to build a better data infrastructure.
