How will 5G tariffs be priced in the future? The three major operators have sent out these signals

Recently, the first half financial reports of the three major operators were released. In addition to announcing revenue, profit and other data, they also conveyed a signal: future tariff pricing will change. Let's first understand how it will change.

After the financial report was released, at its performance press conference, China Mobile Vice General Manager Jian Qin said that as for the specific 5G billing model and plan, China Mobile is in the process of formulating it and expects to launch it in September.

China Telecom stated at its earnings conference that the price of 5G packages must take into account several factors, and it is believed that the company will make a rational judgment.

Wang Xiaochu, chairman of China Unicom, revealed that during the transition period, that is, from now to November 22, the main approach will be to add function packages, with the lowest 5G package costing 190 yuan per month.

Differentiated pricing is a major trend

The reporter sorted out relevant information and found that differentiated pricing is a strategy of the three major operators in the future. For example, Wang Xiaochu revealed that in terms of 5G pricing, the long-term plan is to seek differentiated pricing based on the quality and speed of users.

China Telecom also stated on the 16th that subsequent 5G package settings will be optimized according to 5G characteristics, and the package traffic will be more; at the same time, in terms of improving user perception, the next step will mainly be to innovate in the combination of communication services and applications, to be more in line with user usage habits, take into account the diverse needs of users, and provide diverse and differentiated services.

Strictly control ultra-low price packages

Based on these pricing, an important signal is that some operators will strictly control ultra-low-price packages. For example, China Unicom said in its financial report press release that in the second half of the year, it will optimize the Internet product system, strictly control user development costs and ultra-low-price packages, and improve development quality.

Cancel the "data limit and speed limit" package

Another signal is that the types of packages will become fewer and fewer. In early August, China Telecom announced plans to launch an enjoyment package that cancels the speed reduction rule after reaching the data limit, and provides a package fee (3 yuan/GB). This package is available to both new and old users.

It is reported that China Mobile and China Unicom will also cancel the "data limit and speed limit" packages. In response, China Unicom said, "The service packages may be adjusted, but the details have not yet been determined." China Mobile has not responded to this yet.

In fact, apart from the possibility of canceling the "data limit and speed limit" packages, operators have been streamlining packages. For example, China Unicom's large and small Sheng cards have disappeared.

On May 21 this year, Wen Ku, spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and director of the Information and Communications Development Department, said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the three major operators have an important task, which is to standardize the package settings. "This year, we will reduce the number of packages on sale by more than 15%, with a focus on reducing some early packages, especially those that are expensive and have complex rules that affect user choices."

Experts predict: 5G data traffic will be very cheap in the future

As for the traffic price, which is of most concern to the public, many experts have previously predicted that it will definitely be cheap. In the future, 5G traffic will be "dirt cheap", and the unit price may be as low as a few cents per GB.

However, in the 5G era, users will use more data. Judging from the monthly phone bills, the initial monthly consumption may not be low.
