We use WiFi every day. What is the relationship between WiFi and wireless network? This article is enough for you to understand!

1. Development History:

2. Wireless network classification:

Personal wireless network: (point-to-point mainly uses Bluetooth working in the 2.4G frequency band);

Wireless LAN: (2.4gG and 5G) supports multiple users and higher speeds 802.11a, b, g, n, ac;

Wireless metropolitan area network: used for backbone connections, basically eliminated;

Wireless wide area network: used by operators for WIFI coverage, 2g, 3g, 4g;

3. Classification of transmission technology:

IR DA: uses infrared transmission, which is high in cost and short in life;

BLUE TOOTH: 2.4G frequency band, 10cm-10m, lower rate;

HOME RF: home wireless network, 2.4G, 2m/100m;

GSM, UMTS, LTE: mobile network transmission, 900M, 1800M, 1900M, 2100M;

4. What is WLAN?

5. Development history of WLAN:

Advantages: mobility, flexibility, scalability, and economy;

WLAN can add wireless devices to the original wired network through AC, or establish a complete WLAN network independently.

6. Four major layers and functions in WLAN:

WLAN server: network management system, location reminder, wireless optimization, precise deployment, etc.;

WLAN controller AC: A device used to manage and control wireless APs. It can be used to view, configure, modify, and set up APs in a unified manner, which not only facilitates the management and maintenance of the entire network, but also improves the security and reliability of the wireless network.

WLAN access point AP: AP is the HUB in the traditional wired network and is also the most commonly used device when building a small wireless LAN. AP is equivalent to a bridge connecting the wired network and the wireless network. Its main function is to connect various wireless clients together and then connect the wireless devices to the Ethernet.

WLAN terminals: tablet computers, smart phones, mobile WIFI.

7. Introduction to WLAN standard organizations:

Certification by the National Radio Regulatory Commission;

FCC: Federal Communications Commission;

ETSI: European Telecommunications Standards Institute;

IEEE: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers;

Wi-Fi Alliance: International Wi-Fi Alliance organization, referred to as: WFA;

IETF: Internet Engineering Task Force;

WAPI: Wireless LAN Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure is a security protocol and also a mandatory standard for wireless LAN security in China.
