51% of companies said that lack of appropriate technical infrastructure and IT systems is a major challenge to digitalization

According to a survey conducted by the NASDAQ, with 48% of companies using digitalization to create new cash flow, digital business has clearly become a core element of the entire enterprise business. In addition to cash flow, many companies are also rapidly increasing digital initiatives to improve customer experience, partner experience and employee experience. The reality is that digital transformation has gone beyond the scope of marketing and consulting and is significantly affecting the daily work of ordinary IT personnel.

Unfortunately, while these initiatives have inspired expectations for enhanced performance, higher satisfaction, and new cash flow, as many as 51% of companies still say that lack of technical infrastructure and IT systems have become a major challenge in meeting their digital needs. As a result, 78% of companies experience inconsistencies in the quality of digital experience, and when such inconsistencies lead to service interruptions, companies can lose up to $72,000 per minute.

In June 2017, we announced a major release of the Riverbed SteelCentral platform that would address these issues. Riverbed’s Digital Experience Management approach helps customers measure and troubleshoot every part of an application’s digital experience, from the user’s device experience to the backend network, infrastructure, cloud, and applications. Today, Riverbed is further optimizing the platform: expanding end-user experience management capabilities, introducing a revolutionary approach to capacity monitoring, and optimizing the platform’s network management capabilities to better meet the growing needs of big data environments.

Specifically, this version will bring value to customers in the following aspects:

Rich end-user performance monitoring and integrated visual digital experience

The new version integrates SteelCentral Aternity's end-user experience monitoring and SteelCentral NetProfiler network performance management. By enabling comprehensive visualization of the performance and health of end-user devices and their service networks, friction between desktop services and network teams can be greatly eliminated. Combining the advantages of Aternity and AppInternals, Riverbed SteelCentral can seamlessly monitor all aspects of the digital experience with one-click drilling from end-user devices to application code. This version also enhances interoperability with enterprise systems and integrates Aternity end-user experience data into ServiceNow.

A revolutionary approach to container monitoring for DevOps

The container-based application development approach has fundamentally changed DevOps, but at the same time has complicated application performance management. To test container applications, the traditional APM approach is to add scripts or code to the container. This is an extra step for DevOps teams, which complicates and prolongs the application lifecycle. In the new version, SteelCentral has introduced a revolutionary approach to container monitoring that manages container and application performance without modifying the container image itself. Companies can test a variety of containerized applications without the need for additional modifications by the development team.

In addition, the new version introduces the ability to "stitch" application log messages into application performance data to provide a complete end-to-end transaction record for each transaction. Rich trace and log data greatly simplifies the work of troubleshooting performance issues and application errors.

Large-scale network performance monitoring

With the changes brought about by digital transformation, the prevalence of big data environments has fundamentally changed the network environment of many companies. Industries such as financial services, healthcare, retail and government use powerful network environments to achieve their daily operations, but maintaining performance and continuity in these environments can become a key challenge. In the new version, Riverbed has greatly improved the ability of enterprise users to manage network performance in large-scale, high-capacity environments by improving the ability to capture network information and improving the elasticity of this process.
