Fenghuo will present FitOS6.0 cloud operating system at 2017 OpenStack Sydney Summit

[51CTO.com original article] As the most important event of the OpenStack Foundation, the 2017 OpenStack Sydney Summit will be officially held from November 6th to 8th. The newly-appointed gold member of the OpenStack Foundation, FiberHome Communications Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as FiberHome) will attend the conference with the latest FitOS6.0 cloud operating system, FitCloud solutions, and cases in different industries. At the same time, the core members of the FiberHome open source community project will participate in the discussion and learning of related open source technology topics.

According to the reporter, this is the second time that Fenghuo has participated in the OpenStack Summit. In May this year, at the OpenStack Summit held in Boston, the voting results of the Foundation Board were officially announced. Fenghuo successfully became a gold member of the OpenStack Foundation, marking another important step forward for Fenghuo in the field of cloud computing.

On the eve of the summit, 51CTO reporters interviewed Zhao Rui, the product manager of Fenghuo, and had an in-depth exchange on topics such as the current development status of OpenStack in China and the upcoming FitOS6.0 cloud operating system.

The current status of OpenStack development in China

As the world's largest open source project, OpenStack has become increasingly popular in China in recent years and has been gradually implemented. At present, OpenStack has penetrated into the entire IT infrastructure layer such as computing, storage and networking, and thousands of cloud projects have been deployed worldwide.

Focusing on the Chinese market, after 7 years of accumulation, projects based on the OpenStack architecture have begun to be implemented on a large scale and have been successfully applied to large-scale industry customers in China. Its advantages such as on-demand allocation, flexible configuration, and cost savings provide a technical foundation for users' digital transformation. Among them, China Mobile, China Railway, China UnionPay, and Tencent were all nominated in the selection of OpenStack super users.

"With the increase in the number of OpenStack super users in China, this guidance and demonstration role will lead more and more users to use the OpenStack platform. However, the difficulty of OpenStack in actual enterprise use and the high requirements for personnel also need to be further improved." Zhao Rui said.

Recently, Gartner released the report "Competitive Landscape: 2017 OpenStack Distribution and Support Services Market", which mentioned that one of the important market findings is that there are more and more customers in the Chinese market who are interested in OpenStack, as well as active Chinese OpenStack suppliers. In addition, according to a recent OpenStack user survey, China ranks third in the world in terms of the number of OpenStack deployments.

Looking ahead, Zhao Rui believes: "Based on the current popularity of OpenStack in China and the continuous optimization of community technology, more and more users will be willing to adopt the OpenStack architecture to build cloud platforms. At the same time, community technology also needs to be localized to meet the needs of Chinese users."

Fenghuo FitOS 6.0 cloud operating system will be unveiled at the OpenStack Sydney Summit

There are many players in China's OpenStack market, including large foreign manufacturers such as Intel and IBM, traditional domestic enterprise-level manufacturers such as Huawei, and communications manufacturers such as FiberHome.

As an important promoter of domestic ICT transformation, Fenghuo has been committed to the dissemination of OpenStack open source technology and concepts. At the 2017 OpenStack Sydney Summit, Fenghuo will set up a booth to showcase FitCloud solutions and typical cases in different industries, and will also release FitOS6.0 cloud operating system.

Zhao Rui introduced that in 2010, Fenghuo's National Key Laboratory began to study cloud computing technology. At the end of 2013, OpenStack was selected as the core supporting technology of Fenghuo Cloud Platform. Based on OpenStack, Fenghuo officially released FitCloud cloud network integration strategy and solution in 2015. Among them, FitOS cloud operating system is the core product of the whole solution.

FitOS 6.0, which is about to be released, is based on the OpenStack Newton version. It has transplanted and enhanced self-developed features, enhanced monitoring and alarm functions, added one-click deployment, one-click expansion, automated operation and maintenance tools and other usability and maintainability functions, and provided commercial functions such as bare metal. It can help users achieve:

◆High availability of virtual machines: When a virtual machine encounters its own fault or a host machine fault, it can automatically recover to ensure its own self-healing ability; its technical support is automatic fault detection.

◆Dynamic resource scheduling: The cloud platform will dynamically monitor the load of each host. According to predefined rules that reflect business needs and changing priorities, when the resource utilization on the host exceeds the threshold, it will automatically trigger the hot migration of virtual machines to ensure load balancing among the hosts. Technical support: resource usage detection, hot migration of virtual machines.

◆ Rapid deployment of virtual machines and independent volume data: Supports rapid deployment when creating virtual machines. After the virtual machine is successfully deployed, the linked clone volume corresponding to the virtual machine can be independent as needed; Technical support: linked cloning.

At present, with the application of Fenghuo cloud computing products in the fields of government affairs, medical treatment, education, and transportation, Fenghuo has accumulated a number of cases with industry influence. Fenghuo's cloud-network integrated solution actively expands the government and enterprise industry market, and has undertaken benchmark projects such as Hubei Chutian Cloud, Hubei Education Cloud, National Optoelectronic Industry Cloud, and China Aviation Information Network Enterprise Cloud and Huichuang Cloud.

Among them, Chutian Cloud and Hubei Education Cloud were jointly selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Cloud Computing Open Source Industry Alliance as the best practice cases in the government and education industries. Chutian Cloud also won the "2016 OpenStack China Outstanding Case" and "2016 OpenStack China Top Ten Users" awards. Hubei Education Cloud was awarded the 2017 Asia Pacific Smart City Award by IDC.

Adhere to OpenStack as the basic architecture to create products and solutions that meet customer needs

At the end of the interview, when talking about Fenghuo's strategic development plan for the next one or two years, Zhao Rui said: "In order to accelerate Fenghuo's ICT transformation strategy, Fenghuo has comprehensively deployed ICT business. On the one hand, it comes from the unstoppable global industry and technology trend, and on the other hand, it also comes from its own development needs. The capacity of the communications market is limited, but the capacity of the ICT market is unlimited. If we want to become stronger, better and bigger, we must take bigger steps. Fenghuo actively builds an open, shared, profitable and sustainable Fenghuo cloud ecosystem, which mainly includes: product ecosystem, cooperation ecosystem and business ecosystem."

In terms of product ecology, Fenghuo vigorously develops platform products based on the OpenStack open source architecture.

In terms of cooperative ecology, we pursue both integration and being integrated, fully cooperate with manufacturers in the cloud computing field, and carry out corresponding layout and expansion in the fields of industry applications, big data, and cloud computing. At the same time, the business model has also expanded from the previous single buyer-seller relationship between Party A and Party B to a cooperative operation of multiple business models.

In terms of business ecology, we fully participate in all stages of user cloud construction, help users build a healthy, stable and sustainable cloud platform, create a larger open ICT cooperation ecosystem, integrate upstream and downstream and cross-industry resources, and continuously gather outstanding companies that are deeply engaged in industry applications and leading in technology to jointly welcome the arrival of the big data era and achieve "ecological win-win".
