Huawei releases power distribution solution based on edge computing IoT and AMI 3.0 solution covering all scenarios

During the 2017 Huawei Connect Conference HUAWEI CONNECT, Huawei worked with domestic and foreign industry experts, SAP, Tunisia SIAME, NARI, Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute, etc. to jointly hold a special lecture on "Bits Driving Watts, Towards Smart Grid", announced Huawei's AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) 3.0 solution, and released the power distribution solution and Hi-Grid kit based on edge computing Internet of Things EC-IOT to promote the development of smart grids.

It is a consensus among global power companies that traditional power grids increasingly need to be deeply integrated with new ICT technologies to realize smart grids that integrate power flow, business flow, and information flow. Huawei is committed to becoming the best partner for the digital transformation of the power industry, providing one-stop Huawei smart grid solutions covering generation, transmission, transformation, distribution, and use.

Power distribution and utilization solution based on edge computing Internet of Things (EC-IoT) realizes cloud-pipe-end aggregation

New ICT technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things will drive the reconstruction of the power distribution and utilization architecture. On the same day, Huawei released the power distribution and utilization solution and Hi-Grid kit based on EC-IoT (edge computing Internet of Things), realizing the aggregation of power distribution and utilization "cloud, pipe and terminal".

At the master site level, Huawei provides an open and unified platform to avoid information silos and enable data sharing;

At the network layer, Huawei has achieved full coverage of wired and wireless communications in complex power distribution and consumption scenarios, and unified the delivery of DMS distribution network automation, AMI smart meter reading, and PFTTX power fiber-to-the-home services, achieving resource reuse and commercial value-added.

At the terminal layer, Huawei's Hi-Grid suite of power IoT modularly constructs easy-to-maintain power terminals, making terminal devices fully manageable and controllable.

Li An, director of IoT gateway of network product line, said: "Huawei Hi-Grid kit relies on PLC/RF dual-mode mutual backup to increase the power communication rate from tens of K to 2Mbps. At the same time, it provides a one-stop eSDK development tool, so that customers can expand peripheral components and flexibly customize value-added services."

Huawei's AMI3.0 smart meter reading solution creates a "two networks and one platform" full coverage scenario

Huawei announced the AMI 3.0 smart meter reading solution. Compared with AMI 2.0, which mainly relies on broadband PLC, AMI 3.0 creates "two networks and one platform" by introducing eLTE-IoT and IoT platform, and achieves full coverage of scenarios and full data collection through wired and wireless networks. In addition, it can support multi-vendor, multi-protocol heterogeneous IoT platforms, support mainstream AMI application systems such as SAP, Longsun, and Chinasoft, and provide an integrated platform for power IoT applications such as DA and DER, solving the data sharing problem of chimney-style business systems of power companies.

In the AMI3.0 solution, eLTE-IoT narrowband wireless communication can achieve coverage across multiple stations within 3 to 8 km, which is suitable for small stations or industrial and commercial customers; PLC-IoT broadband power line carrier has super anti-interference ability, which can support reliable collection of meter data in densely populated areas such as large stations. In addition, the AMI 3.0 solution adds edge computing features, supports station and phase identification, provides load control capabilities for large users, fully reduces costs, and increases the profits of power companies.

Small bits drive big watts to improve the efficiency, cleanliness and reliability of watts

Cong Peijin, general manager of Huawei's Energy Solutions Department, said: "The emergence of new energy and energy storage technology has changed the traditional coal-based power source of thermal power, realized the storage of time, and made human energy use cleaner and greener; relay technology has accelerated the fault identification and protection of the power system, making the power system more reliable. The development of AC technology has transcended space, realized grid connection and interconnection, and improved grid operation efficiency. It can be said that green, reliable and efficient are the eternal themes of power grid companies. In the past, bit technology was passively adapted to the power grid system, but with the rapid development of the Internet of Things, communication technology, cloud computing, and big data, bits will more actively change watts, solve the problems faced by watts, and help watts achieve a greener, more reliable and more efficient smart grid."

In the era of smart grids, how to transform technological advantages into economic advantages is a common problem faced by Huawei and its power customers. Huawei hopes to rely on the "platform + ecosystem" strategy to provide one-stop ICT solutions to promote industry development through joint innovation with power industry partners and customers. Huawei's smart grid solutions have been widely used in 65 countries around the world and serve more than 170 power customers. So far, 197 of the world's top 500 companies and 45 of the top 100 companies have chosen Huawei as their partner for digital transformation.
