Veeam appoints new general manager for China, believes in the potential of availability

At the conference, Veeam announced the appointment of Shi Qin as general manager of China, who will be responsible for leading Veeam's sales, alliance partners and ProPartner business, and is committed to expanding the company's layout in the Chinese market and promoting demand for Veeam's availability solutions.

Availability has a lot of room for improvement

Shi Qin told reporters that the trend of digital transformation of global enterprises has brought about high IT investment. IDC reported that in 2020, global IT investment will reach 2 trillion US dollars. He believes that IT investment will be mainly deployed around artificial intelligence, deep learning, industrial intelligent manufacturing, and cloud transformation. The common point of these four fields is that they revolve around data. The availability of data and applications has become particularly important. Take Delta Airlines as an example. Its business system suddenly went down for 5 hours. Finally, professional institutions evaluated that their direct and indirect losses were 150 million US dollars.

Rick Vanover, Director of Marketing and Promotion of Veeam Technology Products, said that Veeam was the first in the world to propose the concept of availability. Rick explained that availability supports business continuity in three aspects. First, all the data backed up by users can be restored. Second, availability should provide enterprises with a mechanism to help them use the intelligence within the existing system to prevent possible downtime in the future. Finally, availability should include visibility, and information such as who accesses what data and which data has not been backed up can be visualized. In Veeam's view, only when applications and data are available and can be fully protected 24/7/365, can enterprises truly achieve business continuity.

The availability of data and applications is also being taken seriously by more and more enterprises. A survey conducted by Veeam on CIOs of globally renowned medium and large enterprises showed that 82% of CIOs felt that there was a large gap in the availability of their applications and data; and 77% of users believed that their protection level or service level for data and applications did not meet the requirements.

Rick added that Veeam's availability solutions have a wide range of application scenarios, covering almost all industries; whether an enterprise is preparing to migrate to the cloud, or hopes to be able to control its own applications and data after migrating to the cloud, or wants to obtain more high availability in the cloud, Veeam has corresponding solutions to support it, realizing cloud disaster recovery, cross-cloud mutual backup and other availability functions. The reporter learned that Veeam has already had many cases in China's financial, education, energy, medical, retail and manufacturing industries, and has just launched the operator market this year.
