Intel Launches High-Performance, Energy-Efficient Ethernet Solutions

On February 25, 2025, Intel released two new Ethernet product lines - Intel Ethernet Controller E830 and Network Adapter, and Intel Ethernet Controller E610 and Network Adapter, designed to meet the growing needs of enterprises, telecommunications, cloud, edge, scientific computing (HPC) and AI. These new generation solutions can provide strong high-performance connections while improving energy efficiency and security, and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

“In today’s connected world, the network is critical to business success and technology transformation,” said Bob Ghaffari, vice president of Intel’s Network and Edge Group. “With the introduction of the Intel Ethernet E830 and E610 products, we are helping customers meet the growing demand for high-performance, energy-efficient solutions that optimize network infrastructure, reduce operating costs and improve total cost of ownership (TCO).”

By combining Intel Xeon 6 processors with high-performance Ethernet connections, Intel's new Ethernet solutions will lay the foundation for scalable data-intensive applications, helping companies accelerate innovation, reduce costs and gain competitive advantage. Thanks to new advances in process nodes and Ethernet technology, the Intel Ethernet E830 and E610 series have significantly improved performance per watt and security in data centers and edge environments.

Ethernet technology remains at the core of modern network infrastructure. As AI, virtualized radio access networks (vRAN), 5G cloud computing, edge, and Internet of Things (IoT) applications drive the demand for data and connectivity, Intel’s Ethernet solutions are designed to deliver the performance, scalability, and security needed to meet these evolving demands.

Intel Ethernet Controller E830 and Network Adapters optimize high-density virtualized workloads, providing flexible port configurations, excellent time synchronization capabilities, and superior security features; Intel Ethernet Controller E610 and Network Adapters provide an ideal solution for control plane operations, with excellent manageability and excellent energy efficiency.

Intel Ethernet E830 Series: High-Performance and Versatile Connectivity

The Intel Ethernet E830 series provides high-performance, secure and energy-efficient solutions for demanding workloads in virtualized enterprise, cloud, telecommunications and edge environments. The first products include dual-port 25GbE PCIe and OCP 3.0-compliant adapters, and more configurations will be launched throughout the year. Key features of the Intel Ethernet E830 series include:

High-speed performance: Intel Ethernet E830 products support up to 200GbE on the PCIe 5.0 bus, providing twice the bandwidth of the previous generation for faster data transfer and better application response.

Flexible port selection: Intel Ethernet E830 products offer 1x200GbE, 2x100/50/25/10GbE and 8x25/10GbE port configurations, allowing enterprises to customize their network infrastructure to meet specific performance and cost requirements.

Excellent time synchronization capabilities: With features such as precise time measurement (PTM), support for 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and support for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), it is essential for critical time synchronization applications in fields such as telecommunications, financial services, and AI training and inference.

Enhanced security: The Intel Ethernet E830 series is equipped with Intel security technologies such as Secure Boot, Secure Firmware Upgrade, and dual hardware root of trust, and is protected against future risks through a post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solution that complies with CNSA 1.0 and FIPS 140-3 Level 1 standards.

Investment protection: Software and driver compatibility with Intel Ethernet E810 products simplifies upgrades, providing seamless transition and lifecycle management.

Intel Ethernet E610 Series: Efficient, Secure, Manageable Networking

The Intel Ethernet E610 series combines manageability, energy efficiency, and security for control plane networks. The Intel Ethernet E610 products are available in a variety of speeds and form factors with the following features:

Modern connectivity: Supporting 10GBASE-T, 5G, 2.5G and 1000BASE-T technologies, the Intel Ethernet E610 product provides efficient, high-performance connectivity for data center control planes, workstations and edge applications.

Comprehensive manageability : The Intel Ethernet E610 Series features security protocol and data model (SPDM), platform-level data model (PLDM), baseboard management controller (BMC) pass-through, and support for network controller sideband interface (NC-SI), which can simplify network operations and reduce management overhead.

Excellent energy efficiency: Intel Ethernet E610 products use up to 50 percent less power than previous generation products, helping to reduce operating costs while minimizing environmental impact¹.

Robust security: The Intel Ethernet E610 Series includes a hardware root of trust for secure firmware updates and modern cryptographic security features that comply with the CNSA 1.0 standard, providing critical protection for network integrity and effective defense against network threats.

Seamless upgrade capability: Full compatibility with previous generation 10GBASE-T adapters simplifies upgrades and ensures customers can fully unleash the potential of existing infrastructure.

As a global leader in Ethernet technology, Intel has built a broad partner ecosystem including Cisco, HPE Technology and Supermicro. This open ecosystem ensures that Intel Ethernet solutions can be deployed in a variety of applications, providing customers with excellent flexibility and choice in network deployment.
