Throughout 2021, Cisco has been the biggest acquisition company, announcing and completing seven deals, including three in June alone, focusing on routed optical networks, Webex integration, Kubernetes security, and cloud-native applications. Juniper is committed to improving its data center offerings, and following the acquisitions of Mist Systems and 128 Technology in April 2019 and October 2020, Juniper announced plans to acquire Apstra in December 2020 and completed the transaction in 2021. Throughout 2021, a series of acquisitions continued in the SD-WAN space, with vendors focusing on security features and SASE gaining popularity.
