It has been more than two years since the country issued 5G licenses to the four major operators in June 2019. In the past two years, China's 5G construction has been at the forefront of the world, with more than 500 million package users, more than 300 million 5G mobile phones, and more than 1 million base stations, all ranking first in the world. But in the past two years or so, claims that 5G is useless and a scam have often flooded the Internet. Of course, the most fundamental reason why there are these discussions is that there is currently no real 5G application on the personal C-end. What everyone experiences with 5G is merely an improvement in network speed, but this has resulted in more expensive mobile phones, higher power consumption, and more expensive tariffs. There are also reports that various technologies are immature, base stations consume a lot of power, and electricity bills are sky-high. Therefore, it is understandable for ordinary people to complain. After all, they spend more money but don’t get a revolutionary experience. They have high expectations, so naturally they are a bit disappointed in the end. In fact, there have always been expert professionals who have stated that the biggest application scenario of 5G is not in the civilian market at present, but more in industrial applications. However, before this, operators, mobile phone manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, etc. mainly focused on developing the civilian market. After all, the civilian market is larger, the returns will be higher, the threshold is lower, and it is easier to achieve immediate results, so 5G has been promoted faster in the civilian market. However, this civilian direction did not bring about a qualitative change in the ordinary civilian market, so users became disgusted and there were more complaints. However, judging from the current situation, manufacturers seem to be starting to correct their mistakes and are no longer obsessed with the personal C-end. The direction of 5G has also begun to adjust, and everyone has begun to shift their focus to industrial applications. To give the simplest example, Huawei has established five major corps, namely the coal corps, customs and port corps, smart highway corps, data center energy corps and smart photovoltaic corps. These five corps actually use 5G technology to empower these specific industries, which is a typical industrial application of 5G. In fact, it is not just Huawei. Global operators, including Ericsson, Qualcomm, Nokia, and ZTE, are also paying more attention to industrial applications, judging from recent trends, rather than focusing on personal C-end scenarios. Of course, I have to mention at the end that 5G is actually the foundation. Only with 5G can there be some 5G applications. It is normal that the initial investment is large and it is immature. But in the long run, 5G is the trend. With 5G, we will be able to enjoy the most advanced communication and Internet services, and our future will be full of more possibilities. This process may be long or short, but it will definitely come. |
