However, two years have passed since the large-scale application of 5G, and the penetration rate of 5G commercial use in my country is not very high. Although there are nearly 1 million 5G base stations, they are still very few in the country, and the use of 5G mobile phones in our lives is even rarer, and most people still use 4G mobile phones.

Not only are the usage and penetration rates of 5G commercial use so low, people's enthusiasm for 5G is also slowly declining. Many people feel that there seems to be no impact without 5G, 4G is enough, and 5G is not as magical as advertised that it can change our lives.

In addition, people rarely encounter 5G signals in their daily lives. Now 5G base stations have achieved full coverage of all cities at the prefecture level and above. However, there are still many places below the prefecture level that do not have 5G, and even in cities with 5G base stations, the signal is not that strong.

I believe that many people who use 5G mobile phones will find that the 5G signal is sometimes available and sometimes not, and it is very mysterious when they can connect to it. So in the eyes of these people, 5G is really useless.

In fact, few people use 5G for commercial purposes in real life. In addition to the poor signal penetration, there are three very important reasons.

First, most users have not yet upgraded to 5G.

5G does not mean that you only need to buy a 5G phone, you also need to upgrade your SIM card and switch to a 5G data package. This actually creates a high threshold for upgrading to 5G, because many people will not actively upgrade their SIM cards. These people will think that 4G is enough anyway, and people are connected to WIFI at home, so why upgrade to 5G?

In addition to mobile phone cards, many people have not bought 5G mobile phones. In the first half of 2021, the shipment of 5G mobile phones was only 128 million units, but by June 2021, the scale of mobile Internet users in my country had reached 1.007 billion. Therefore, the number of people who buy 5G mobile phones in my country is also very small. Therefore, people using 5G are still rare in our lives.

Second, the price of 5G is relatively high

In fact, many people now connect to WIFI for a long time, and even the package fee of 4G traffic is considered high, and 5G is even higher than 4G. When the three major operators first launched 5G packages, the fee was as high as 128 yuan, and the traffic provided was only 30GB.

With the speed of 5G, how can such a small amount of data be enough? It will be used up after a few swipes. If you want more data, you will have to spend a lot more money every month. It seems that just using your mobile phone to surf the Internet is a big expense every month. It is better to connect to WIFI at home and use 4G when going out, which will not affect you at all.

Third, ordinary people don’t necessarily need 5G.

5G does have a faster Internet speed, but it also consumes more data. Moreover, most people don’t actually need such a fast Internet speed. For example, if you want to watch a video, you can still finish it at the fastest speed with 4G.

Many people will use 5G to download videos to test how good 5G is, but in fact, 4G can also download videos, and the data traffic consumed is much less than 5G. What's more, most people only download videos when connected to WIFI, so video under 5G is not a real necessity.

If you want to play games more smoothly, 5G actually does not play a decisive role. Only when the performance of the mobile phone is good enough can the game be smoother. 4G and WIFI are enough to make the game achieve the effect that players want if the performance of the mobile phone is good.

In short, although 5G is not as useless as some people say, in fact, ordinary people like us don’t really need 5G at present, especially for our current mobile phone needs, 4G is enough, not to mention the good tool of WIFI. The usage rate of 5G will be higher in other occasions, such as large-scale live broadcasts and remote surgery.

Therefore, if we want 5G commercial use to become more popular like 4G, we will have to wait for many years. You know, when 4G was widely popularized, 3G was still in use.
