Interesting, 5G base station and fire hydrant logo combined

Following the integration of 5G base stations with various public infrastructure such as street lights, billboards, electric poles, and traffic signs, another interesting integration has emerged recently...

This is a new case in which Japanese operator Rakuten Mobile cooperated with the municipal government to install 5G base stations on fire hydrant sign poles.

In Japan, a large number of fire hydrant signs are set up on the side of public roads, with about 25,000 stations in the Tokyo area alone. These signs are used by fire brigades or fire trucks to indicate the location of nearby fire hydrants, so that firefighters can quickly find fire hydrants and quickly put out fires.

Often, these hydrant signs also come with billboards that can be used to direct citizens to nearby businesses and to help pay for the maintenance of the hydrants through advertising revenue.

Perhaps because of the large population and limited land area as well as the widespread deployment of PHS at that time, Japanese operators prefer small base stations and often attach base station equipment to public facilities such as social poles and buildings to fully utilize public resources to deploy base stations.

Let’s take a look at some of the other 5G combined base stations of Japanese operators…

Power distribution cabinet and 5G base station integrated

In addition to combining the power company's distribution cabinet with a 5G base station, the site also has Wi-Fi, surveillance cameras and billboards, and can transmit information related to grid control and management through the 5G network.

Various street light type 5G smart poles

The smart pole integrates 5G AAU, LED street lights, public WiFi, cameras, speakers, billboards, USB charging and other functions, and supports sharing by multiple operators.

This is the simplest way, which is to directly attach the 5G base station to a pole or line pole.
