Since the issuance of 5G commercial licenses in my country, 5G has ushered in a round of construction boom. On November 26, at the 2020 World 5G Conference held recently, Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said in his speech that as of October this year, more than 700,000 5G base stations have been opened and the number of terminal connections has exceeded 180 million.

Liu Liehong pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has vigorously promoted the innovative development of 5G and promoted the deep integration of 5G with the real economy.

First, 5G network construction has taken solid steps .

With the joint efforts of basic telecommunications operators, we have overcome the impact of the epidemic, seized supply, and made every effort to carry out 5G construction. At present, my country's 5G independent networking has initially achieved large-scale commercial use, and the network covers cities at the prefecture level and above and key counties and cities across the country. As of October this year, more than 700,000 5G base stations have been opened, and the number of terminal connections has exceeded 180 million. Co-construction and sharing have achieved positive results, and more than 97% of 5G base stations share existing sites.

Second, the 5G industry’s supporting capabilities continue to improve .

5G terminals are becoming more abundant. As of now, my country has obtained 253 terminal models with network access licenses, including 218 5G mobile phones. The price has gradually dropped to around 1,500 yuan, and there is room for further decline. 5G multi-form, multi-type, and multi-functional terminals continue to make breakthroughs. Ten modules have obtained network access licenses in China, and many 5G modules have begun commercial use.

The third is to accelerate the construction of the 5G integrated application ecosystem.

Smart manufacturing, healthcare, energy, agriculture, education, finance and other industries have become hot areas, and mines and ports are expected to be initially implemented and promoted. In addition, this year's 5G technology campaign has spawned a number of applications such as remote diagnosis and treatment, remote office, and remote education. 5G application scenarios are constantly being enriched, and a large ecosystem of integrated applications is accelerating.

At the beginning of 2020, a sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought a shock to 5G construction, but also verified the important role of 5G in fighting the pandemic and promoting economic and social transformation and upgrading. As the pandemic eases, the pace of 5G construction accelerates, large-capacity, low-latency network transmission will become a reality, and people's lives will usher in great changes.
