5G has great potential in promoting the development of industrial Internet!

As an industry that deeply integrates the new generation of information technology and traditional manufacturing, the industrial Internet is now widely concerned and valued by all countries. As one of the major manufacturing and Internet countries, my country has made gratifying achievements in the construction of the industrial Internet in recent years with the promotion of policies and the layout of enterprises. According to the "China Internet Development Report (2021)", the scale of my country's industrial Internet market reached 916.48 billion yuan in 2020, becoming an important driving force for the development of the digital economy.

At present, the development of my country's industrial Internet has gradually formed industrial agglomeration areas such as the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the old industrial base in Northeast China, Chengdu and Chongqing, etc. The total number of industrial Internet logo registrations has exceeded 5.5 billion, and the number of industrial facilities connected to the industrial Internet platform has reached more than 40 million. Not only is the infrastructure construction progressing steadily, but the application innovation ecosystem is also continuing to expand. However, due to large capital investment and many technical challenges, although the situation is promising, commercialization is plagued by drawbacks.

On the one hand, the frequent emergence of data islands has made it difficult to promote the industrial Internet; on the other hand, as an emerging industry, the industrial Internet has problems such as insufficient core technology innovation, imperfect laws, regulations and standards, lack of compound talents in the industry, undeveloped commercial scenarios and network security risks, which also make its development difficult. In this context, many manufacturing companies have doubts about the application of the industrial Internet, making it difficult to speed up commercialization.

Fortunately, the 5G network currently being deployed has helped the development of the Industrial Internet. The essence of the Industrial Internet is to closely connect and integrate equipment, production lines, factories, suppliers, products and customers through a global and open industrial network platform, and efficiently share various resource elements in the industrial economy, thereby reducing costs and increasing efficiency through automated and intelligent production methods. 5G can provide efficient and secure network communications for it.

First of all, the application of high-bandwidth, low-latency, and high-efficiency 5G networks is expected to enhance the interconnection and interoperability of industrial Internet equipment, improve the speed and accuracy of related data transmission, provide reliable technical support for the connection between the industrial Internet and industrial equipment, and meet the actual needs of manufacturing companies for data transmission and processing, thereby solving various problems such as "data islands" and industrial data connections.

Secondly, through 5G technology, the Industrial Internet can also be more closely integrated with other cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, VR and AR, etc., so as to further promote the transformation and reform of the manufacturing industry, realize multi-faceted digitalization, intelligence, and networking upgrades, and truly bring into play the potential value of the Industrial Internet. In turn, the Industrial Internet can also become an important commercial scenario for 5G.

Based on this, the industrial integration and application of 5G and the Industrial Internet is a mutually reinforcing process with broad value and prospects. Especially in the manufacturing sector, 5G+Industrial Internet can change the original organizational methods and production models of manufacturing companies, interconnect equipment, personnel, and the environment in all directions, monitor production equipment in real time, and make industrial production move towards unmanned, networked, and intelligent directions.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, there are nearly 1,600 "5G+Industrial Internet" projects in my country, covering more than 20 key industries and fields of the national economy. In the next step, my country will continue to focus on the development of "5G+Industrial Internet" and continue to accelerate the integration, application and development. In order to achieve this goal, my country has recently issued the 5G Application "Sailing" Action Plan and the Industrial Internet Innovation and Development Action Plan. The future development is worth looking forward to!
