Liu Liehong from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: my country's 5G base stations account for more than 70% of the world's total

On May 26, the 2021 China International Big Data Industry Expo was held at the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center. Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, mentioned in his speech that at present, my country has built a total of 819,000 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the world, covering all cities above the prefecture level in the country.

Liu Liehong said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has made positive progress in solidly promoting the national big data strategy, accelerating the construction of information and communication networks, strengthening technical and industrial support, carrying out in-depth industry demonstration applications, and building industrial clusters. Specifically:

First, the foundation of the big data industry is increasingly consolidated. Data resources are extremely rich, the total amount ranks among the top in the world, and industrial innovation is becoming increasingly active. The total number of patents accepted accounts for 20% of the world's total. The infrastructure is constantly being consolidated. 819,000 5G base stations have been built, accounting for more than 70% of the world's total, covering all cities above the prefecture level in the country. The number of 5G terminal connections has exceeded 310 million, accounting for more than 80% of the world's total. There are more than 10,000 5G application demonstration projects in the industrial field and various economic and social fields.

Second, the big data industry chain has taken shape. More than 400 typical big data pilot demonstration projects have been selected nationwide, new products and new models have emerged, and a big data product and service system has taken shape. The penetration rate of digital R&D and design in industrial enterprises and the digitalization rate of key processes have reached 73% and 52.1% respectively. The level of integration of industrialization and information technology has been continuously improved, and the integration of big data with government affairs, finance, medical care, transportation and other fields has continued to deepen.

Third, the ecological system has been continuously optimized. Eight national big data comprehensive experimental zones and 11 national new industrialization industry demonstration bases in the field of big data have been built. A number of leading big data companies have emerged rapidly, and a development pattern of "large enterprises leading and small and medium-sized enterprises coordinating" has been initially formed. The industry support capacity has been continuously improved, and the guarantee system of consulting services, evaluation and testing has been basically established.

Fourth, the information and communication network has been continuously improved. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, my country built the world's largest optical fiber and 4G network, and through the universal telecommunications service mechanism, the proportion of administrative villages in the country with optical fiber and 4G access exceeded 99%.
