Ericsson and Samsung settle patent dispute

According to foreign media, Ericsson has reached a multi-year agreement with Samsung on global patent licensing, thus resolving a patent dispute. Based on this, the two parties will withdraw the complaint filed with the US International Trade Commission and the ongoing litigation in multiple countries. The two parties refused to disclose the terms of the agreement on the grounds of confidentiality.

Ericsson said in a statement that the cross-licensing agreement covers network infrastructure and mobile phone sales starting January 1, 2021. Ericsson was founded in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, in 1876. From the early production of telephones and program-controlled switches, it has developed into the world's largest mobile communications equipment provider. Ericsson's business covers more than 180 countries and regions around the world. It is a leading global provider of end-to-end comprehensive communications solutions and professional services.

Previously, the Telecommunications Industry Solutions Alliance ATIS has started research on the 6G roadmap, and alliance members AT&T and Ericsson want to lead the overall strategy and direction in North America. AT&T Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Andre Fuetsch is the chairman of the executive management body, and Jan Soderstrom, head of Ericsson's Silicon Valley Technology Office, is the vice chairman.
