China Mobile plans to jointly purchase 700MHz base stations with China Radio and Television this year

China Mobile recently released its annual performance report, which showed that its net profit in 2020 was 107.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.1%, and its operating income was 695.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%.

The report states:

  • China Mobile has built the world's largest 5G network;
  • In 2021, we will adhere to multi-frequency coordination and precise construction to continue to forge a high-quality 5G network: build about 120,000 new 2.6GHz base stations;
  • It plans to jointly purchase more than 400,000 700MHz base stations with China Radio and Television, and put them into operation between 2021 and 2022.

According to GSA statistics, as of January 2021, a total of 140 operators in 59 countries and regions around the world have officially launched 5G commercial services, and 412 operators are conducting 5G experimental verification or planning deployment. According to previous news from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, my country has built more than 480,000 5G base stations and the number of 5G online terminal connections has exceeded 100 million.
