Wu Hequan said that China's 5G laboratory was officially launched for commercial use on October 31, 2019, but the real large-scale commercial network construction will not be until 2020. In 2020, we conquered the COVID-19 pandemic, which boosted the demand for 5G. China's new infrastructure strategy accelerated the construction of 5G, and China's 5G construction directly entered the stage of independent networking.

He said that by the end of last year, China had added 580,000 new 5G base stations, bringing the total to 718,000, and the number of 5G connections exceeded 200 million, ranking first in the world.

"Another key performance of 5G is low latency, which can be achieved at 0.5 milliseconds in high-reliability application environments and scenarios." Wu Hequan said, therefore, the requirements of the Internet of Vehicles are 1 to 10 milliseconds in the L4 stage, and the ultra-high voltage power grid requires less than 3 milliseconds. These all hope to be supported by 5G's low latency.

In addition, 5G's high bandwidth and low latency enable real-time remote broadcasting of high-definition video. 5G supports ultra-high-definition and high-speed video broadcasting and 3D video applications. 5G itself can synchronize multiple cameras on the stadium and transmit signals from multiple cameras to the outside at the same time, allowing spectators outside the stadium to watch videos from a certain angle as freely as spectators inside the stadium.

"Of course, more applications are in industry. 5G links all aspects of industrial production and realizes the full activation of data." In Wu Hequan's view, remote driving, automatic parking, ultra-high voltage power grids and some high-reliability mechanical processing. These 5G performances may be applied in 2020, but most of them have not yet truly reflected the key performance of 5G in applications. We believe that the excellent performance of 5G will create a new business model for the digitalization and intelligent transformation of "two-ization", and will promote new content of the integration of "two-ization" informatization and industrialization.
