Miao Wei: 5G and other communication infrastructure construction should be appropriately advanced

Due to the huge investment in 5G and industrial Internet, it is difficult to obtain good returns in the short term, facing the contradiction between short-term returns and long-term strategies. In this regard, Miao Wei said that since the application scenarios in the above fields have not yet arrived, investors have some doubts and wait-and-see attitudes towards the construction of 5G network infrastructure. But overall, the construction of communication infrastructure should take a moderate and advanced approach.

"If there is a conflict between cars and roads, should the road wait for the cars or should the cars wait for the road? I think everyone has the same answer. We should adopt a moderate approach," Miao Wei said, using an analogy that as my country's digital economy continues to develop, it is better to get ahead moderately and give way to the cars rather than wait until the traffic is so congested that cars cannot move before thinking about building roads.

5G base station construction

Regarding 5G application scenarios, Miao Wei also gave a "28 ratio", that is, about 20% of 5G application scenarios are To C, and 80% are To B. "In addition to solving the interaction, information and communication between people, 5G's greater application is in the Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet," he said.

Miao Wei said that in the field of industrial Internet and Internet of Things, the Internet of Vehicles may be one of the largest applications. "The development of intelligent connected vehicles marked by driverless driving is in full swing all over the world. We have also determined the development model of vehicle-road collaboration in the future. After the digitalization and intelligent transformation of highways in the future, after the development of intelligent connected vehicles, the collaboration between vehicles and roads, the interaction of information between vehicles and roads, and vehicles and people, and digital transmission will grow exponentially compared to the communication between people."

Miao Wei admitted that it will take a relatively long time to realize fully autonomous driving, but assisted driving functions have already appeared on some new cars. "Functions such as automatic parking, automatic following on highways, road marking prompts, and reminders for drivers who are drowsy have appeared one after another. These are all actual effects brought about by data transmission, data processing, and processing applications."

Miao Wei emphasized that the future prospects of 5G construction will be very good, and we must have firm confidence at this stage. This is also one of the few fields in my country where we are already in a leading position in the world, and we should not miss this opportunity.
