GSA: More than 100 commercial 5G networks launched worldwide

On September 25, according to foreign media reports, the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) confirmed that 101 mobile operators in 44 countries and regions have launched more commercial 3GPP-compliant 5G services.

Of these commercial networks, GSA data records show that 94 operators now offer 3GPP-compliant 5G mobile services (up from 63 at the end of March 2020), while 37 operators have launched 3GPP-compliant 5G FWA or home broadband services (up from 34 previously).

As of September 2020, the GSA GAMBoD database contains detailed data and analysis on a total of 397 operators in 129 countries that have announced investments in 5G, including trials, licence acquisition, planning, network deployment and rollouts.

"5G is set to be the fastest-adopted mobile technology in history," said Joe Barrett, chairman of the Global Mobile Suppliers Association. "There are now more than 400 5G devices; 5G subscriptions are doubling every quarter; there are now 20 commercial 5G mobile processors and platforms, and eight 5G modems from five different semiconductor companies. With more than 100 commercial 5G networks now operational and operators around the world investing in more networks, we are seeing the mobile industry working together to drive 5G adoption at an unprecedented pace."
