In the era of instant messaging, what else can 5G bring us besides speed?

The 5G era is approaching, bringing more poetic imagination space for people to communicate smoothly, communicate instantly, transmit information, and exchange messages. Brave actors have also begun to try to use 5G packages to experience the "moving" aspects of 5G in advance.

The scramble among countries for 5G frequency bands and base stations has also made the 5G arena "gunpowder-like". Based on national conditions, my country also regards the 5G industry as an emerging strategic industry. The accelerated start of 5G projects and the accelerated implementation of 5G base stations have become the top priority for promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the domestic 5G industry. In 2020, which has just begun, my country has also put forward new goals and plans for the development of the 5G industry. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a document stating that it will accelerate the progress of 5G network construction. It is expected that the number of 5G base stations nationwide will exceed 600,000 by the end of the year, achieving continuous outdoor coverage in prefecture-level cities, key coverage in county towns and townships, and indoor coverage in key scenarios.

As of the end of February, 164,000 5G base stations had been built and put into operation nationwide. With the orderly resumption of work and production of enterprises in March, measures to build 5G base stations in various places will be further implemented. The establishment and improvement of 5G-related infrastructure has also provided many conveniences for the development of instant messaging. The characteristic of "fast" seems to have become the initial impression of most people on 5G. How fast is 5G?

5G is the fifth generation of mobile communication technology. Compared with 4G, 5G has a significant advantage in terms of network speed. In a 5G network environment, a 1G file can be downloaded in just a few seconds. In simple terms, when downloading music, you can only see two screens: "Not downloaded" and "Completed"; the download speed of mobile software is faster than the decompression speed; when watching an ultra-high-definition movie online, the progress bar can be dragged at will.

Fast speed is indeed a significant advantage of 5G, but it is by no means its only feature. In addition to the obvious improvement in network speed, 5G can be integrated with cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, thereby amplifying and broadening the effects of technological integration, providing new opportunities for reducing costs and optimizing operating models in multiple fields including communications, education, construction, and agriculture. Based on a stable network environment, many emerging industries have undoubtedly gained a rare opportunity to grow and develop.

For industries such as live broadcasting, short videos, and telemedicine, with the guarantee of 5G's stable data transmission system, video can be transmitted without freezing and with low latency, which provides a new window for communication and interaction between anchors and viewers. From this perspective, 5G brings not only a stable network signal system, but also a new business model, which finds more connection points between technology and personnel, products, platforms, and systems, and more connections between the various factors affecting industrial development.

Take the high-definition video industry as an example. The emergence of 5G allows video producers to publish their content to video playback platforms in a timely and rapid manner. At the same time, they can also independently download videos of food, clothing, movies and other types produced by others. More importantly, with the further acceleration of upload and download speeds, video content production is also developing in a refined and diversified direction. At a time when fast-food video culture is widely spread, in order to focus the audience's limited time and energy, it is necessary to start with improving the quality of content, so that the audience can relax by watching videos while also being nourished and cultivated by culture.

At the same time, the rapid development of technologies such as 5G, AR, VR, and the Internet of Things has also blurred the roles of video content producers and viewers. Many amateurs can also edit and produce short videos to share with others, which may pose a challenge to the original video production model. It also prompts current video content to reflect on the value of technologies such as 5G and cloud computing, and actively use them.

While people are full of expectations, they also have many doubts about 5G. Perhaps with the continuous advancement of technology and the continuous expansion of its reach, the "image" of 5G will no longer be out of reach and unattainable, but will become as common and easy to use as water and electricity in our lives. In the future, people may change from accepting changes in 5G technology to actively exploring it, and the emergence of this change itself also shows the strong appeal of 5G itself.
