5G will change my country's intellectual property landscape

In Li Wenyu's view, the information and communication industry has always been the first to bear the brunt in the field of intellectual property disputes.

Li Wenyu said that there are a large number of patent disputes in the information and communication industry every year. As 5G technology enters different vertical industries, some intellectual property issues in the original communication industry may gradually enter other industries. In particular, standard issues will be more prominent than before, and the patents involved in the standards will also attract the attention of other industries, triggering more thinking and even some new phenomena.

As for how companies can reduce risks in intellectual property, Li Wenyu believes that efforts need to be made in three aspects.

First, enterprises should strengthen their emphasis on innovation. More and more innovations actually come from how enterprises can maintain their market competitiveness in the process of high-quality development. Innovation is increasingly becoming a factor that enterprises need to consider, and this factor will play an increasingly important role. In the ICT field, simply referring to, introducing or imitating external technologies is no longer enough to support the continuous development of an enterprise in the same industry, let alone taking the lead. Technological innovation and attention to some technologies in the industry in which the enterprise is located have become the first issues that enterprises need to consider.

Secondly, enterprises need to establish a complete set of systems in the construction of innovation systems. The first is standardization, the second is incentives, and the third is the need to effectively organize the innovation activities of all R&D personnel.

Finally, we need to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights and enhance the level of attention paid to legal aspects. For an enterprise, only by equipping effective intellectual property management personnel and highly qualified legal personnel can a relatively complete and rigorous intellectual property system be established.
