Huawei Chairman Liang Hua: Focus on ICT infrastructure platforms and create a fertile soil for ecological innovation

On April 22, Huawei Chairman Liang Hua shared his views on the development stage and potential of the ICT digital industry at the first Digital China Construction Summit, and talked about how Huawei, now at the age of 30, will move towards a new intelligent era of the Internet of Everything.

"Huawei will rely on core capabilities such as 'chip design, mathematical algorithms, and architecture design based on electronic information technology' to build an ICT infrastructure platform that collaborates with terminals, networks, and clouds, and create a fertile ground for innovation for ecological partners in all walks of life," said Liang Hua.

"Most of the current changes and innovations in business models are inseparable from ICT digital technology." Liang Hua believes that digitalization is entering a new stage. Digital technology has changed from the previous support system to the production system and decision-making system. Digital technology innovation represented by 5G, IoT, cloud computing, and AI is becoming increasingly important and has become the key to building a fully connected intelligent world.

Liang Hua, Chairman of Huawei

The following is the transcript of Liang Hua’s speech (abridged)

I am very honored to come to the beautiful city of Rongcheng to attend the Digital China Summit and share Huawei's views with you.

We believe that digitalization is entering a new stage, and the ICT digital industry is entering a new industrial cycle. The most significant feature of this cycle is that ICT digital technology and digital infrastructure will be widely used in all walks of life, and digital technology will change from a supporting system to a production system and decision-making system. With this change, the ICT digital industry has also moved from a vertical industry in the past 30 years to a platform-based horizontal industry.

In the new industrial cycle, new technologies such as 5G, IoT, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence will become increasingly important and become the key to building an intelligent world where everything is connected.

Thanks to the rapid development of digital technology, on the one hand, digitalization of all walks of life has become possible, which will help us further activate the real economy and create a new engine for economic growth; on the other hand, it will also further improve the level of urban governance and achieve efficient good governance and benefit the people.

We have observed that most of the changes and innovations in business models today are inseparable from ICT digital technology. The entire world is entering a fully connected digital state at an increasingly faster and larger scale.

In the future, digital technology innovations represented by 5G, IoT, cloud computing, and AI will bring further prosperity to all industries and will be able to drive further growth in both the digital economy and the real economy.

A few days ago, Huawei released the Global Industry Outlook GIV2025 forecast. With the upgrade of all-perceiving and all-interconnected, we will enter a world of all-intelligent. By 2025, the number of personal intelligent terminals will reach 40 billion, the total number of global connections will reach 100 billion, and the industry value of 23 trillion US dollars will be created based on this.

Huawei will rely on core capabilities such as "chip design, mathematical algorithms, and architecture design based on electronic information technology" to build an ICT infrastructure platform that collaborates with terminals, networks, and clouds, and create a fertile ground for innovation for ecological partners in various industries.

When it comes to industry digitalization, we see that the data channels and business channels between "applications, platforms, networks, and industry terminals" in various industries have not been fully opened up, and there are still many data and business islands, as well as a large number of data and business breakpoints. It is these breakpoints that hinder the digitalization of various industries.

Huawei is willing to work closely with ecosystem partners from all walks of life to truly open up the data and business channels of industry customers' "terminals, networks, platforms, and applications", and help industry customers build new digital production and decision-making systems based on ICT digital technology, thereby unleashing industry potential and creating new economic growth momentum.

Releasing industry potential and building new momentum for economic growth with the help of ICT digital technology is not just an idea on paper or verbal basis, but is happening now: through close cooperation with ecosystem partners and industry customers, Huawei has helped thousands of domestic and overseas companies in multiple industries such as manufacturing, transportation, energy, and finance to achieve significant improvements in productivity and operational efficiency, as well as a significant reduction in operating costs through digital technology.

In terms of urban governance and people's livelihood, we can also reap the dividends of the digital age through the use of ICT digital technology. In the field of smart cities, Huawei has experience and capabilities in ICT infrastructure construction and has advantages in ICT infrastructure platform management; our ecological partners have advantages in Internet platforms and application capabilities. We will coordinate the advantages of both and achieve complementary advantages, so as to help our city managers realize the intelligent operation of the city and efficiently achieve the goal of good governance and benefiting the people.

Huawei has worked closely with hundreds of partners in more than 350 cities around the world to leverage their respective strengths to jointly achieve reduced urban operating costs, increased operational efficiency, and a safer, more business-friendly, and livable environment.

The construction of Digital China has entered a new era. At the age of 30, Huawei has further expanded its mission and vision: "To bring the digital world to everyone, every family, and every organization, and to build a fully connected, intelligent world."

In the future, Huawei will adhere to the principles of fully connected, fully cloud-based, and fully intelligent products and solutions, and work with our customers and partners to promote the construction of Digital China and the development of the digital economy. Let us work together. Thank you!
