Achieve dreams and create new possibilities

Hello, friends on site and online, welcome to the third day of Huawei HC Conference. As the saying goes, save the best for the last. You are all the best!

In the opening video just now, I wonder if you have noticed a detail? What kind of radio did the kid who climbed up the tree to listen to the radio have? A dual-speaker stereo radio recorder! This was very rare when I was in elementary school. I remember when I was in my early teens, I and a few classmates pieced together a very simple radio. We used the tree trunk as an antenna instead of climbing a tree to listen to the radio! At that time, it was very difficult to do something by hand because the available resources were very limited. Today is very different.

The theme of my speech today is: With Huawei's platform, we can realize our dreams and create new possibilities together.

Connection has changed the course of human civilization

If there is any era in history that can be compared with the intelligent era we are entering, I would say it is the Age of Exploration 500 years ago! Columbus' discovery of the New World and Magellan's circumnavigation of the world connected the continents of the world and also changed the course of human civilization.

Today, driven by technologies such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, humans have entered the era of intelligence. The most notable feature of this era is that the connection between the physical world and the digital world has and will greatly change the way humans produce and live.

Digital transformation: actions speak louder than words

Even two years ago, we were still discussing whether to transform digitally? What are the benefits of digital transformation? Today, more questions are: When and how?

To answer this question, I would like to start by sharing a case.

Shenzhen Longgang Smart City

Where is Longgang District in Shenzhen? If I say this is the headquarters of Huawei, everyone will understand.

Longgang is the largest district in Shenzhen, with a permanent population of 4.25 million. Three years ago, the Longgang District Government launched the "Smart Longgang" construction project and selected Huawei as a strategic partner. Not long ago, I visited the Longgang District Government Affairs Hall and was very pleased to see that the "Smart Government Affairs" sub-project has achieved online and offline approval integration. Residents can now handle various services through their mobile phones or computers without leaving their homes. At the same time, the offline service hall has achieved unified acceptance at the front desk and division of labor and cooperation at the back desk, allowing "more data to run, less running for the people", and greatly improving public satisfaction.

In addition, the "Smart Police" sub-project was launched last year. The district police chief proudly told me that the major cases in Longgang were solved in less than 24 hours. After the "Smart Firefighting" sub-project was launched, the number of fires in the first half of this year dropped by 40% month-on-month.

Longgang District Government established an organization, standardized standards, and integrated systems

The construction of smart cities has encountered difficulties in implementation and effectiveness in many places. Why can "Smart Longgang" achieve such great results in just two or three years?

First of all, the district government attached great importance to this project and did not think that it could just entrust the project to Huawei and wait for the results. As soon as the project was launched, Longgang District established a leadership group headed by the secretary and the district mayor, and also set up a special "District Data Coordination Office."

The office's responsibilities include establishing data standards, connecting more than 50 departments horizontally, and connecting all streets and communities vertically. In addition, with the help of Huawei, it integrated 215 business systems from more than 50 units, gathering more than 1.1 billion pieces of data.

There is no shortcut to digital transformation. Customers’ determination and actions to embrace change are the basis for success.

Huawei + partners, organic synergy between infrastructure and applications

So what is Huawei's responsibility in this project? Huawei is responsible for the top-level design and ICT infrastructure design of the entire "Smart Longgang". We provide Smart Longgang with an overall architecture of "one cloud, two networks and three platforms", namely cloud data center, urban communication network, urban Internet of Things, big data service platform, business application enabling platform, and ICT capability opening platform, realizing agile openness at the infrastructure level.

More importantly, Huawei has brought in many application developers as partners to meet the needs of different sub-projects, such as government affairs, police affairs, education, and medical care. These partners have leveraged their own strengths to innovate agilely in response to customer needs. Through close cooperation between Huawei and its partners, we have achieved organic synergy between ICT infrastructure and business applications, and jointly created viable solutions for customers. This is exactly the focus of my speech today.

Thinking about industry digitalization

In addition to the "Smart Longgang" project, Huawei has also carried out joint innovation with many leading companies in various industries in the past few years, accumulating a lot of experience and lessons. These experiences and lessons have triggered my three thoughts on the practice of digital transformation in the industry.

Digital transformation is an “iron triangle” project

First of all, digital transformation is an "iron triangle" project, and it must also be a "top leader" project.

This is a very hot term in Huawei, and all Huawei colleagues understand it immediately.

The essence of digital transformation is to restructure the business, process and organization with digital technology. No one knows your business better than you, so the participation of customers, especially the top leaders, is critical. This is one corner.

Digital transformation requires digital technology, so ICT vendors are also indispensable. This is another corner.

Another important aspect is industry application developers. Digital transformation is a process that must be agile and iterative innovation for application scenarios. Without applications, there is no solution.

This "iron triangle" structure is the joint innovation model advocated by Huawei for industry digital transformation.

Digital transformation requires a platform to achieve the integration of the physical and digital worlds

The second thought: Digital transformation requires a platform, an ICT platform that connects the physical world and the digital world. We often say that the foundation of digitalization is the perception of all things, the interconnection of all things, and the intelligence of all things. No single technology can support digital transformation alone. It must be the coordination of technologies such as cloud, Internet of Things, big data, wireless, light, etc. This coordination is what I mean by "platform".

Ecological partners can rely on the platform to create new possibilities

The third thought is that with the platform, digital transformation has a foundation, and data collaboration and flow have a basis. Partners who develop industry applications can fully combine industry experience with ICT capabilities on this platform, stimulate the creativity of the industry, and bring colorful applications to the industry.

So I often say that digital transformation is a journey with only a starting point but no end point. With the development of various creative ideas and applications, it will definitely become more and more exciting.

This is exactly the ecosystem that Huawei is committed to building.

What makes Huawei's ecosystem different?

Well, in this digital age, everyone is talking about platforms and ecosystems. People often ask me, what is the difference between Huawei's platform and ecosystem and others?

Be the most trusted partner of customers

First of all, "customer-centric" is Huawei's core value, which is also the foundation of Huawei's business success.

The day before yesterday, our rotating CEO Mr. Guo mentioned in his speech that Huawei's business model is to "rely on technology and services to realize revenue, not on user data to realize revenue", which is the biggest difference between us and traditional Internet companies. We want to be the most trusted digital partner of our customers.

Business-driven innovation, focusing on value creation

Another important concept of Huawei's innovation is "business-driven innovation", the ultimate goal of which is to help customers achieve business success. Therefore, the general consensus among customers is that Huawei is the most practical and feasible choice for business innovation.

Take the cooperation with Guangdong Rural Credit Cooperatives as an example. Guangdong Rural Credit Cooperatives is the largest rural credit financial institution in China. In recent years, it has vigorously expanded intermediary businesses such as financial management and agency payment. However, the existing IT system cannot support the rapid launch of new businesses, resulting in the loss of market opportunities.

Advanced Digital Communications is a leading ISV in the field of financial data services. Huawei, Advanced Digital Communications, and Guangdong Rural Credit Cooperatives jointly built an agile intermediate business cloud for Guangdong Rural Credit Cooperatives based on business pain points, shortening the time for business development, debugging, deployment, and launch from the original 3-6 months to 1-2 weeks, thus helping Guangdong Rural Credit Cooperatives quickly seize market opportunities.

Global deployment of OpenLab, deep understanding of industry demands

To gain a deeper understanding of the industry and to innovate with customers and partners, Huawei has set up OpenLabs around the world. The solutions incubated have covered various fields such as public security, finance, electricity, manufacturing, and transportation.

In the next three years, Huawei will invest another 200 million US dollars in the construction and operation of OpenLabs, and the number will increase from the current 13 to 20. Huawei has OpenLabs in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. Innovation is wherever customers and partners are.

A platform for platforms

Another characteristic of the Huawei platform is that it adheres to its own business boundaries. We are committed to being a platform for platforms.

Becoming a “platform of platforms”

Now many companies have transformed themselves into enabling platforms for specific industries based on their experience in specific industries. The most typical example is GE, which provides the Predix industrial cloud platform for the aviation and manufacturing industries. Huawei's positioning of its business boundaries is to build an open, secure, and reliable ICT infrastructure platform, and to be a platform for customers and partners.

Huawei's platform is a full-stack ICT platform that integrates cloud, pipe, and end, providing one-stop ICT services to customers and partners. The upper-level platform does not need to worry about the complex ICT software and hardware systems at the lower level and can focus on optimizing and innovating its own business.

ICT platform + industry experience, making buildings smarter

Today, there are very few companies that truly possess full-stack ICT capabilities across cloud, pipe and terminal, and Huawei is one of them.

Huawei and Honeywell jointly create smart building solutions worldwide. Based on Huawei's edge computing IoT platform and Honeywell's intelligent building management system, the ICT platform capabilities and industry experience are fully combined to achieve the connection and interoperability between complex and diverse building equipment. Through cloud management of *** IoT terminals, building operating costs are reduced by 60% and energy consumption is reduced by 50%.

Creating ecological soil

The third characteristic of Huawei platform is sharing, which is committed to "becoming the soil of the ecosystem" and helping partners grow rapidly. Therefore, our partner support plan is called the "fertile soil" plan.

From innovation to marketing, strong cooperation wins the market

Huawei has its own operating organizations in more than 170 countries around the world. This is another platform besides our technology platform, namely the global "marketing and service platform". We will use this platform to quickly launch innovative solutions jointly created with partners.

In the field of safe cities, Hexagon is a world-leading ISV with professional technologies such as CAD, geographic sensors, and GIS. Huawei and Hexagon complement each other's strengths and have created a world-leading next-generation converged command system. Over the past two years, Huawei has jointly marketed with Hexagon in its own advantageous markets. Hexagon's market has expanded from developed countries to many emerging countries such as the South Pacific, the Middle East, and Latin America, and its revenue in related fields has doubled.

***Standards, Expand Industry

In this era of digital transformation, we have a philosophy: it is more important to make the pie bigger than to gain a bigger share.

Huawei has long used its own technological innovation capabilities to actively support and integrate the formulation of mainstream international standards and promote industry standardization to reduce the cost of digital transformation. Huawei promotes standardization of major industry opportunities such as 5G, video, and IoT, advances key industry projects, and promotes industry cooperation across organizational platforms to jointly expand the industry pie.

Work together to create a better future with partners

In the future, we will open our technology platform, marketing platform, training and service platform to partners to the maximum extent. In addition to the $1 billion fertile soil plan for developers that we announced two years ago, our goal is to support 100 partners to earn more than 100 million yuan in the next three years and develop more than 1,200 solution partners. In addition, there will be a special incentive of RMB 1 billion for cloud partners.

Ecological construction is not a one-man show, but a joint participation of all parties; it is not about creating each person’s own back garden, but a shared garden of flowers.

The ecology is different because of you and me, and the excitement has just begun!

In recent years, Huawei's development concept of being the most trusted partner of customers, a platform for platforms, and an ecological soil has been recognized by more and more partners. Currently, Huawei has 400 solution partners, 2,400 service partners, 12,000 channel partners, and 80,000 registered developers. Huawei is willing to work with partners to strive for the lead in the wave of digitalization.

Huawei will continue to invest and build a powerful platform to help its partners soar.

Ecology is inseparable from a strong platform, and the platform is rich and colorful because of the ecology! The excitement has just begun!
