5G accelerates commercialization, mobile edge computing test to be completed within the year

It was learned from the "2017 MEC Technology and Industry Development Summit" held recently that the 5G industry chain including MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) is maturing, and MEC will be deployed on a large scale in 2017.

According to the Shanghai Securities News, Zhu Hao from the Technical Standards Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology said at the summit that MEC is the focus of the second phase of 5G trials, and that MEC's platform traffic diversion, billing and other native features will be combined with 5G cloud functions for comprehensive testing. Wen Ku, director of the Information and Communications Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will promote the second phase of 5G technology research and development trials, and it is expected that the second phase of trials will be completed by the end of 2017. From the above information, it can be inferred that the MEC test will be completed before the end of this year. Since MEC and 5G are complementary, large-scale deployment of MEC will accelerate the commercialization of 5G. Qualcomm said that the industry has always believed that 2020 is the time for 5G commercialization. Now everyone has seen the benefits that 5G brings to the industry, such as supporting autonomous driving and massive deployment of smart terminals. The industry has a great demand to advance the time.
