Emirates du and Huawei jointly launch the world's first "5G-A Smart Home" with 10G network support

During the Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF2023), du in the UAE and Huawei jointly launched the world's first "5G-A Smart Home", demonstrating the smart home life of the future with the support of 10G networks.

du has developed rapidly in FWA home broadband in recent years, doubling its users in the past year and a half. In March this year, du and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding on 5G-A strategic cooperation. In the future, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation around 5G-A technology innovation, application discovery, and ecosystem construction. "5G-A Smart Home/Future Home" is one of the results of the joint innovation of the two parties.

Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du UAE, Li Peng, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Carrier BG, and Cao Ming, President of Huawei Wireless Network Product Line, attended the launch ceremony.

"5G-A Smart Home" shows the future of smart homes with more intelligent terminals connected and better experience. On the one hand, traditional home applications such as video experience will move towards higher resolutions such as 4K and 8K; on the other hand, applications such as naked-eye 3D and XR will enter home office, education, sports, entertainment and other scenarios, bringing a new experience of smart home life.

These new changes have put forward demands for higher speed, higher reliability and lower latency for home networks. In the smart home scenario, 5G-A technology has the capabilities of 10Gbps downlink, 1Gbps uplink and 20ms@95% deterministic latency, which can effectively support the multi-connection and high experience of future home services.
