Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: The average daily 5G traffic in China during the May Day holiday increased by 86.5% year-on-year

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's micro-report, the Information and Communications Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized the communications industry to successfully complete the communications security tasks during the May Day holiday, with a total of more than 129,000 security personnel and more than 43,000 security vehicles, providing a high-quality network environment for the people to celebrate May Day.

First, make arrangements in advance. Organize a special meeting to deploy communication support work during the May Day holiday within the industry, require careful review of the network coverage of key scenic spots, transportation hubs, and transportation arteries across the country, and formulate plans and optimize construction in advance based on the characteristics of May Day travel to effectively respond to the possible surge in users and traffic.

Second, we organized special inspections. We organized forces to go to Fujian, Henan, Guangdong, Hainan, Shaanxi and other five places to carry out special inspections on network operation, conduct on-site supervision on facility protection, architecture protection, fire prevention and flood control, and require timely rectification of any problems found to ensure stable operation of the national network during the May Day holiday.

The third is to ensure smooth operation. During the May Day holiday, the communications industry was on duty 24/7, and the national 5G traffic increased by 86.5% year-on-year on average every day, and the communications network operated smoothly. Targeted network operation quality monitoring was carried out in 5,835 key scenic spots across the country, and capacity was expanded and upgraded in a timely manner according to the business operation status to ensure good user perception.

Fourth, timely and effective support. During the May Day holiday, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in Longyang District, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, and a 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The communications industry immediately activated the emergency plan and quickly dispatched emergency communications support forces to effectively ensure the smooth flow of important communications of the party, government, military and the public in the affected areas.
