According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of April, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 1.59 billion, basically the same as the same period last year. Among them, the scale of 4G users was 1.273 billion, accounting for 80% of the total number of mobile phone users, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the end of March. 4G users are accelerating their migration to 5G.

As of the end of April, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 459 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%, and a net increase of 9.26 million users compared with the end of last year. Among them, there were 427 million fiber-optic access (FTTH/O) users, accounting for 93.1% of the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users. The number of fixed Internet broadband access users with access speeds of 100Mbps and above reached 393 million, accounting for 85.7% of the total number of users, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the end of March.

The data also showed that by the end of April, the three basic telecommunications companies had developed 1.091 billion cellular IoT terminal users, a year-on-year increase of 46.6%, and a net increase of 63.7 million users compared with the end of last year. Among them, the terminal users used in smart manufacturing, smart public utilities and smart transportation increased by more than 30%. The total number of IPTV (Internet TV) users reached 300 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.8%. The number of mobile Internet users reached 1.306 billion, and the penetration rate of mobile phone users was 82.1%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the end of March, and basically recovered to the level at the end of last year.
