Intelligent wireless coverage solutions in complex industrial environments

Recently, NTT has provided customers with intelligent wireless integrated solutions for harsh and complex industrial environments based on Cisco's complete wired and wireless integrated solutions.

The client is a leading company in the chemical materials industry and has been committed to business expansion and cooperation in China for many years. With the development over the years, its production park has been expanding and needs to rely on the network coverage of the park, including the wired network in the office and the wireless network coverage throughout the workshop warehouse. This time, the client encountered a wireless coverage problem in its newly built smart warehouse:

• As it is a warehouse converted from a new use, the building structure imposes restrictions on wireless coverage, making it difficult to design wireless coverage;

• Due to the particularity of the materials stored in the warehouse, the relevant IT equipment needs to be explosion-proof and flame-retardant, and resistant to acid and alkali;

• Strict requirements on coverage quality and signal transmission quality, and can cover the entire warehouse and the surrounding area within 200 meters without blind spots;

• For safety reasons, the warehouse can only be powered by direct current;

• The warehouse construction environment is relatively complex and the project construction period is only 3 months.

Combining its many years of experience in serving industry customers and its own professional skills, NTT quickly determined the basic overall solution that the customer needed through communication with the customer, and communicated with the Cisco support team in a timely manner to provide the customer with an overall solution based on the Cisco wireless campus network.

NTT and Cisco provided solutions to the business pain points raised by customers, and provided customers with one-stop turnkey project services based on NTT's integration capabilities:

• NTT provides customers with professional on-site wireless coverage survey services. Through professional tools and customized services, it helps customers develop accurate wireless layout coverage maps, which serve as the basis for equipment selection and equipment purchase quantity for the entire project. It also provides customers with secondary surveys after project implementation in order to verify and optimize the original design plan;

• Based on wireless surveys and actual needs, NTT selected equipment models with external antennas and signal gain functions for customers;

• NTT and Cisco plan IW-6300H series product models for customers based on their specific environmental requirements to adapt to complex working environments;

• This time, a DC power supply model was selected;

• NTT and Cisco team initiated supply chain optimization mechanism in the early stage of the project to prepare for the timely delivery of the project for the customer, and NTT provided project management services to the customer to coordinate the business progress of project participants and ensure business quality.

This project also connected the customer's new warehouse network with the original campus network, and relying on Yuanyou's DNA architecture, realized visual management of the wireless network through the DNA controller, and unified management and maintenance of the entire campus wireless network through the Catalyst9800 controller, which improved management efficiency and reduced maintenance complexity, without adding any additional human resource burden due to the expansion of network coverage.

At the same time, NTT also makes full use of the remote delivery center built in China to provide customers with infrastructure-based event management and maintenance services, fully ensuring that customers can simplify the operational complexity in daily production and work, and fully freeing up the IT support department to devote more energy to the digital innovation of the enterprise, unleashing the expert capabilities of IT and helping the implementation of the enterprise's digital strategy.
