According to CCTV Finance, starting at 11:20 a.m. local time (10:20 a.m. Beijing time), Korea Telecom (KT), South Korea's largest telecommunications operator, experienced a large-scale network service outage on its wired and wireless networks, resulting in a large number of users across the country being unable to use the Internet.

The services affected by the network outage mainly include payment, Internet and telephone. As a result, businesses and citizens using KT services are unable to access the Internet or conduct online transactions, causing great inconvenience.

The network outage lasted for about an hour and was gradually restored at 12:00 local time. KT said in a statement that the culprit for the company's service paralysis was a large-scale "distributed denial of service attack (DDos)" that morning. However, two hours later, KT spoke again, saying that after careful investigation, it was found that the accident was caused by an error in the network path setting. Currently, the South Korean police have stated that they have intervened in the investigation.

According to data released by the Ministry of Science and Technology Information and Communications of South Korea, KT ranks first with a share of 47.8% in the Korean Internet market, and second with a share of 31.6% in the mobile communications market.
