5G empowers thousands of industries and builds a new blueprint for future energy

For some time, fossil energy, including oil, coal, nuclear energy, etc., has generally been an indispensable basic resource for the industrial and economic development of various countries. However, with the continuous growth of energy demand and the continuous changes in the development goals of various countries, the energy structure is now beginning to usher in new adjustments and changes.

According to relevant news, Germany recently announced that it will completely abandon nuclear power in 2022, officially opening the prelude to global energy replacement. Compared with highly polluting, low-utilization and high-cost energy such as oil, coal and nuclear energy, clean energy such as hydropower, wind power and solar energy are currently favored by more and more countries, and clean energy is replacing traditional energy.

As for 5G, its rapid development will undoubtedly bring important support to the transformation of the energy sector. According to the "Implementation Plan for 5G Applications in the Energy Sector" previously released by my country, it is shown that 5G can be implemented in many aspects such as smart power plants, smart grids, smart coal, smart oil and gas, integrated energy, smart manufacturing and construction.

In the field of smart power plants, 5G will be mainly used in production control, smart inspection, smart operation and maintenance, and safety emergency response. Based on the integration of 5G with AI, cloud computing, industrial Internet and other technologies, it can realize real-time collection of production data and remote control of equipment, realize the interconnection of various production personnel and smart equipment, and realize the visualization of production and safety.

In the field of smart grid, the value of 5G will be reflected in the aspects of power transmission, distribution and operation monitoring, distribution network protection and control, new energy and energy storage grid connection, coordinated dispatching and stability control, and comprehensive application of emergency on-site self-organizing network. Relying on the characteristics of low latency, high reliability and large connection of 5G network, it can promote various inspection and monitoring applications and help upgrade smart grid.

At the same time, in the field of smart coal mines, the deep integration of 5G and coal machinery equipment can also realize real-time interaction and remote control of information, promote intelligent mining and production control; with the help of visual communication, real-time high-definition video transmission, and environmental monitoring data collection, environmental monitoring and safety protection can be realized; using advanced driving assistance systems, unmanned operations can be carried out to support cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

In addition, 5G can also play a role in the oil and gas field in exploration, oil and gas fields, refineries, pipeline transportation and other links; in the cross-field of intelligent manufacturing and construction, it can also promote the realization of intelligent manufacturing, assist in on-site collection, upgrade construction site operations, strengthen remote monitoring, and ensure construction site safety... In short, 5G's value in promoting energy upgrades is diverse and significant, and its application space and potential are huge.

At present, my country's 5G development has achieved phased and landmark results: in terms of base station construction, as of August, a total of 1.037 million 5G base stations have been built, accounting for more than 70% of the world; in terms of terminal users, from January to August this year, domestic 5G mobile phone shipments reached 168 million units, a year-on-year increase of 80%. At the same time, the number of 5G terminal users exceeded 400 million, laying the foundation for my country's energy transformation.

In the future, as my country accelerates the construction of 5G energy private networks, makes breakthroughs in key common technologies such as 5G virtual private networks, 5G drones/robots/remote inspection/remote control/5G AGV technology, and 5G unmanned driving technology, and gradually establishes a 5G application technology standard system and 5G application-related technology innovation platforms in the energy field, I believe that my country's 5G+ energy will move forward steadily.
