According to foreign media reports, Gartner's latest report predicts that the global 5G network infrastructure market revenue will grow by 39% in 2021. According to Gartner's estimates, this $19.1 billion in revenue will far exceed the 2020 figure of $13.7 billion.
Michael Porowski, senior principal research analyst at Gartner, said the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the need for optimized and ultra-fast broadband connections to support home working and bandwidth-hungry applications such as streaming video, online gaming and social media applications. “Business and customer demand is a contributing factor to this growth. As consumers return to the office, they will continue to upgrade or switch to gigabit fiber-to-the-home services as connectivity has become an essential remote working service,” Porowski said. Gartner found that 5G will account for 39% of total wireless infrastructure revenue this year. The report also noted that as CSPs shift to 5G small cells, market investment in other wireless infrastructure is rapidly decreasing. Gartner added that Greater China will maintain its number one position, with 5G revenue reaching $9.1 billion in 2021. Gartner predicts that by 2024, 60% of CSPs will provide commercial 5G services. |
