Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission: Organize and carry out IPv6 deployment and application pilot projects

According to China Internet Information Office, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission recently organized a meeting to further promote the implementation of large-scale deployment and application of IPv6.

The meeting required that we should strengthen standard guidance and performance assessment, strengthen the research and formulation of IPv6 national standards, carry out IPv6 upgrades and technological innovations, strengthen pilot demonstrations and publicity and promotion, organize and carry out IPv6 deployment and application pilots, collect and publish excellent cases of IPv6 deployment and application, and create a good atmosphere for the whole society to participate in promoting the large-scale deployment and application of IPv6.

IPv6 is the abbreviation of "Internet Protocol Version 6", which is the next-generation IP protocol designed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to replace IPv4.

On June 20, at the Global IPv6 Forum's "2020-2021 Global IPv6 Development Outlook" seminar, Wen Ku, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Communications Standards Association, stated that in terms of network infrastructure, with the joint efforts of the three major operators, CDN companies, and data center companies, my country's network infrastructure has fully supported IPv6.

Statistics show that as of April this year, the number of active IPv6 users in China has reached 515 million, accounting for 52.1% of Internet users.
