China Mobile: All new mobile terminals must support 700MHz from October 1

At the launch ceremony of China Mobile's 2021 terminal product strategy and the China Broadcasting Corporation and China Mobile's joint construction of a 700MHz terminal ecosystem, China Mobile stated that the two operators plan to complete the construction of 400,000 700MHz 5G base stations by the end of 2021.

In terms of supporting 700MHz, mobile phone terminals priced at RMB 4,000 and above must support it from March 1, 2021, and all new mobile phone terminals must support it from October 1, 2021.

On January 26 this year, China Mobile and China Broadcasting Corporation officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement on 5G joint construction and sharing, officially launching the joint construction and sharing of 700MHz 5G network.

At the meeting, Cui Fang, deputy general manager of the technical department of China Mobile Terminal Company, introduced that the two parties will fully implement the government's requirements for the joint construction and sharing of the 700MHz frequency band, and plan to complete the construction of 400,000 700MHz base stations by the end of 2021, achieving full coverage of urban areas, county towns and key townships across the country.

At the meeting, China Mobile officially released the "5G Mobile Phone Product White Paper", "Pan-Terminal Product White Paper" and "Industry Terminal Product White Paper". With the joint efforts of China Radio and Television and China Mobile, the relevant chapters of the white paper clarified the support and technical requirements of various types of 5G terminals for the 700MHz frequency band, providing a solid foundation for the industry to jointly build a 700MHz terminal ecosystem.
