my country's 5G construction and development have achieved remarkable results, and the 6G layout is about to start

At present, 5G, as a global emerging strategic industry, is receiving unanimous attention from all countries. Since my country officially launched 5G commercial use in 2019, its development has also been far ahead. Even though it was affected by factors such as the epidemic in 2020, construction and deployment still made key breakthroughs. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of now, my country has 718,000 5G base stations, ranking first in the world in terms of 5G scale.

According to the detailed introduction made by Xiao Yaqing, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, at the press conference held by the State Council Information Office on March 1, my country's 5G has not only achieved 5G network coverage in all cities and counties, completing the established goals. At the same time, 5G investment has exceeded hundreds of billions, and the scale of independent networking mode has been deployed; in addition, the scale of users has also risen rapidly, and the number of 5G terminal connections has exceeded 200 million, which may have become the world's first.

Throughout 2020, 5G applications have made rapid progress, and innovative applications have become increasingly abundant. In the consumer sector, 5G+UHD, 5G+AR/VR and other technologies are widely used, and fields such as game entertainment, live broadcast of events, and residential services are being explored and practiced. Education and medical applications use 5G+artificial intelligence+big data technologies to provide services. There are more than 1,100 "5G+Industrial Internet" projects under construction across the country.

First, we will further consolidate the industrial foundation, follow the principle of moderate advancement, and promote the construction of 5G networks. On the basis of 5G networks reaching a certain scale, we will move from large-scale construction and wide coverage to on-demand construction and deep coverage, closely follow the needs of different scenarios, and build high-quality 5G networks. Second, we will deepen integrated applications and promote technological innovation in various industries. Third, we will expand open cooperation and create a safer, open, and mutually trusting development environment.

On this basis, we must also accelerate our outlook and deployment for the future. According to Tian Yulong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in 2021, we must not only promote the construction of 5G networks in an orderly manner, but also accelerate the layout of 6G, promote network optimization and upgrades, and vigorously promote the high-quality development of the information and communication industry. Of course, since 6G is currently in the exploratory stage, we also need to strengthen international interaction to promote standard construction and technological maturity.

The realization of all the above goals cannot be achieved without the full participation and cooperation of local governments, industries, and enterprises. Especially at the local government level, local support for the development and commercial use of 5G/6G is crucial. However, there is still a gap in promoting the implementation of applications. Next, local governments need to combine local economic and industrial realities, give full play to existing advantages, and reasonably and appropriately promote industrial construction and technological innovation and application.

Industry experts believe that my country's 5G construction and deployment will continue to advance rapidly in the next three years or so, gradually achieving network coverage in a wider area and solving various problems in practical applications. At the same time, it is expected to show a rapid expansion trend starting from 2022, and ultra-high-definition video, VR/AR, etc. will become the main application scenarios.
