5G is in the ascendant, and 6G is coming. Learn about the latest developments and trends

The latest research shows that 5G networks are facing new technical bottlenecks in terms of data transmission rate, access density, etc., and the development of 6G may break through these technical barriers and provide faster and more far-reaching communication services.

6G is smarter: With the help of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, it can automatically improve network performance such as quality of service (QoS), quality of experience (QoE), security and energy efficiency.

6G wireless communication networks are expected to provide higher spectrum, energy, and cost efficiency, higher transmission rates, lower transmission latency, ultra-large connection density, higher levels of intelligence, sub-centimeter geolocation accuracy, nearly 100% coverage, and sub-millisecond time synchronization.

In March 2019, Bell Labs in the United States proposed some key performance indicators for 6G networks. It mentioned that the peak of network data transmission is expected to exceed 100 Gbps, the connection density will reach 107 devices/km2, the latency should be less than 0.3 milliseconds, the energy efficiency will be 10 times that of 5G, and the capacity will reach 10,000 times that of 5G systems. The connection density of 6G networks will increase by 10-100 times.

Wider coverage: Using satellite communications, drone communications, ground communications and maritime communications to achieve an integrated “space-air-ground-ocean” network.
